What are the hours of operation for the DART Police Department?
The DART Police Department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The administration offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.


I received a citation. How do I take care of it?
If you received a citation for fare evasion, please read the information on the back or click here. If you want to dispose of the citation by paying the administrative fee online by credit card, click here.

If you received a citation for a violation other than fare evasion, read the information on the back or click here. The court's telephone number and important information regarding your responsibilities are provided.

If you fail to complete your legal requirements for any citation, a warrant may be issued for your arrest.


How do I find out how much a citation will cost?
Call the court during weekday business hours at the telephone number on the back of the citation or click here for court information.


How do I obtain a copy of a crime report or an accident report?
Reports are generally available after 72 hours.

Crime reports must be requested through a Public Information request to DART's Legal Department, P.O. Box 660163, Dallas, Texas 75266-7255.

Accident reports may be obtained in person at or by mail to DART Police Headquarters, 1333 N. Stemmons Freeway, Suite 105, Dallas, Texas 75207. Accident reports are $6.00 each, payable by cashiers check or money order only.

Can the police open my car if I have locked my keys inside?
Because of the potential for damage to vehicles, the DART Police department does not open locked vehicles. A locksmith is your best alternative. If a child is locked inside the vehicle, the Fire Department will send a rescue unit to remove the child from the vehicle, possibly by breaking a window.


Why do they ask so many questions when I call the police?
DART Police Telecommunicators are trained to try to get as much information as possible to best determine the nature of the problem and its seriousness.
