Downtown Dallas construction information

Downtown Dallas: • To support construction around the Bryan/Hawkins intersection: Bryan is closed between Leonard and Good Latimer. View a street location map. Love Field West Community construction information

Love Field West Community: Neighborhood Construction Advisory - West of Love Field Construction on DART's exciting Green Line expansion into Northwest Dallas, Farmers Branch and Carrollton has begun in earnest and will continue until passenger service officially begins in December 2010. Listed below is a brief outline of how some of the major streets in the neighborhood west of Love Field will be affected. Denton Drive at Mockingbird Lane Motorists should expect periodic lane reduction on both streets as various construction stages proceed during the project. • Denton between Egan and Mockingbird is closed for paving and rail work. Weather permitting, work on the road is scheduled to be completed by Monday, February 15. View a street location map. • Traffic is reduced to one lane each way at W. Mockingbird Lane and Denton Drive. View a street location map. • There is a traffic switch on Denton Dr. from north of Hawes Ave. to Lovedale for paving work. The northbound lanes are closed and traffic is detoured onto the southbound lanes with one lane open in each direction. Once the northbound lanes are completed, traffic will be switched to the new lanes while southbound lanes are paved. View a street location map. An Update on Improvements Under Way on Little Denton Drive Construction related to DART's Light Rail Green Line has begun along Little Denton Drive, with a series of enhancements including additional vinyl-coated fencing, added landscaping, curbs and sidewalk upgrades. Upon completion, these improvements will increase safety for the entire neighborhood. View a street location map. Work has been planned in phases, with each street closure affecting one block at a time. Sidewalks will remain open during the road construction portion of the project to maximize access for residents. PHASE 1 - Empire Central to Anson, In Progress PHASE 2 - Bombay to Langdon PHASE 3 - Langdon to Amherst PHASE 4 - Amherst to Burbank • Little Denton between Amherst and Lovers and between Langdon and Gilford is open to local traffic only. Little Denton is open between Empire Central and Lovedale. View a street location map. Notice of Temporary Street Closures - Anson and Little Denton Effective On or After December 21, 2009 Anson at the railroad tracks will be closed for approximately 1 1/2 months beginning on or about December 21. A portion of Little Denton from Anson south will also be closed for approximately two weeks (see map). Traffic will be detoured onto Empire Central. Walnut Hill/Denton Area construction information

Walnut Hill/Denton Area: Construction for DART's exciting Green Line Expansion Program into Northwest Dallas, Farmers Branch and Carrollton, is underway and will continue until the new passenger service begins in December 2010. Construction in this area will necessitate occasional traffic shifts and detours as some of the local streets and infrastructure are improved. • Webb Chapel Extension at Denton Drive is reduced to one lane in each direction for the installation of underground utilities until further notice. View a street location map. • Denton Drive between Storey Lane and Community Drive has reopened. The portion of Denton between Community Drive and Webb Chapel remains closed until further notice. View a street location map. • Denton Drive between Lombardy and Walnut Hill will be closed except for local traffic. Motorists are encouraged to look for local road detour signage. View a street location map. • Walnut Hill near Denton Drive may have daily lane closures. View a street location map. • Walnut Hill at the rail guideway will have various lanes closed for pavement demolition and street modification work. Farmers Branch Community construction information

Farmers Branch Community: Farmers Branch On-Call Boarding With Other DART Routes at Farmers Branch Park & Ride - Effective October 20, 2008 All Farmers Branch On-Call vehicles drop off and board passengers at the temporary transit center on Denton Drive. This is the location currently being used by Bus Routes 44, 185, 204, 247, 331, 400 and 486. Boarding will take place at the sign marked: DEPARTURES All Bus Routes All DART services will use this stop until the new Green Line rail station opens across the street in December 2010. Carrollton Community construction information

Carrollton Community: Construction for DART's exciting Green Line Expansion Program into Northwest Dallas, Farmers Branch and Carrollton, is under way and will continue until the new passenger service begins in December 2010. Construction in this area will necessitate occasional traffic shifts and detours as some of the local streets and infrastructure are improved. • One lane is closed in each direction on Belt Line at the rail guideway. View a street location map. • From 11 p.m. on Friday, February 19 to 7 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, Belt Line at the rail guideway will be closed for overhead pedestrian bridge beam placement. Lake June Community construction information

Lake June Community: From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, Elam at the rail guideway will be closed. From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, Hillburn at the rail guideway will be closed. View a street location map. Orange Line Updates:

Orange Line construction information

KEY ACTIVITIES Bridge construction is rapidly moving west and into the city of Irving. Crews have finished a large majority of the bridge substructure work (columns, caps, girders, etc.) and are headed toward the Trinity River and Spur 482 Frontage Road area. As crews continue to set girders, activities may require some temporary night closures (9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.) along westbound Spur 482 (including all ramps leading to westbound Spur 482) and the Spur 482 Frontage Road. Construction of the bridge superstructure (deck, rail, etc.) may require some temporary night closures (9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.) in this area as well. Motorists are advised to monitor Orange Line construction alerts to help minimize traffic impacts, as this area is still under construction. Information regarding these closures will be communicated. There will continue to be heavy construction activity along the median of Lake Carolyn Pkwy as crews continue utility relocations and station work. Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through this area due to changing traffic configurations. Motorists are not permitted to drive or park inside closures. Pedestrians need to remember that it is not safe for them to enter construction zones, so they will need to use alternate walking and jogging routes. Additional lane restrictions in this area may be required for crews to complete activities. Please use caution in this area with changing traffic configurations. HARRY HINES/NORTHWEST HWY./I-35E/JUSTICE WAY AREA: Crews will continue bridge construction from just west of Harry Hines/ Northwest Hwy/Spur 482 toward Justice Way requiring various lane restrictions and traffic delays. Motorists are advised to monitor Orange Line Construction alerts to help minimize travel impacts. Please plan your routes, allow extra time to reach your destination, and observe any changes in speed limits or detours. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Bridge construction ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: Bridge construction, including girder erection, will continue for the Trinity River bridge structure from Jamison/Bachman Station to the west side of the levy on the Spur 482 Frontage Rd. Certain aspects of bridge construction will require full closures to avoid work over live traffic. Information regarding these closures will be communicated. There will be lane restrictions to southbound Justice Way at Spur 482 as crews continue bridge construction in this area. Girder erection operations will require full lane closures to avoid work over live traffic. The tentative schedule is as follows (please note that all dates are tentative as they do not account for weather delays or other schedule impacts): Week of February 8: • February 8, 9 and 10 (8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.) - Westbound Spur 482, all ramps leading to westbound Spur 482, and Stemmons Trail Night closures will be required to avoid bridge superstructure construction activities over live traffic. The tentative schedule is as follows (please note that all dates are tentative as they do not account for weather delays or other schedule impacts): Week of February 8: • February 8 and 9 (9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.) - Ramp from eastbound 482 to eastbound Northwest Hwy Please note that all dates are tentative as they do not account for weather delays or other schedule impacts. TRINITY RIVER AREA: Bridge construction has moved into the Trinity River area. Motorists can expect to see increased activity in the Trinity as the bridge structure continues to move west. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Grading Drill shaft operations Pier operations Bridge construction ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: Lane restrictions may be required along the Spur 482 Trinity River Bridge as bridge construction continues. Expect heavy construction traffic in this area and vehicles entering and exiting the site. SPUR 482/FEDEX/CENTRAL FREIGHT: Crews will continue utility relocation work along the Spur 482 frontage road in front of FedEx and Central Freight. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Grading Utility relocation Driveway reconstruction Walls ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: Restrictions of the right lane of the Spur 482 frontage road may be required around the areas of FedEx and Central Freight for utility relocations, walls, and grading activities. Night closures of the Spur 482 frontage road will be required for girder setting operations. These closures are scheduled to begin in March. These activities will require periods of full closures as the beams are set. Flaggers will be present to stop traffic during these periods. Further detail regarding these closures will be communicated as these activities draw closer. SH 114 FRONTAGE ROAD AREA: Expect construction activity and increased truck traffic along the SH 114 frontage road around Loop 12 and the old Texas Stadium. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Grading ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: Activities will require restrictions of the right lane of the westbound SH 114 frontage road. Please use caution with the increased construction traffic. TELEPORT BLVD./RIVERSIDE DRIVE AREA: Utility relocation activity has started back up along Teleport from Riverside Dr thru to Las Colinas Blvd. Minor lane restrictions may be required for some additional utility relocation work. The majority of the work will be completed at night to minimize traffic impacts. Teleport Blvd will continue be closed permanently at SH 114 to thru traffic. Access to business drives along Teleport will remain open. Please use caution in this area with changing traffic configurations. Pedestrians need to remember that it is not safe for them to enter construction zones, so they will need to use alternate walking and jogging routes. Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through this area and obey the advised, posted speed limit of 25 mph. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Utility relocation - The utility relocation activities at the Teleport Blvd and Riverside Dr. intersection may require some night work to reduce impact to motorists in the area. ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: Teleport will continue to be closed to thru traffic just after the Miss Bloomingdale's Academy entrance. Various temporary lane restrictions may be required for crews to complete their activities in the Teleport/Riverside area. Please monitor changes to traffic configurations, and use caution when traveling through this area. Crews will continue the remaining utility relocation work on Teleport. Lane restrictions on Teleport, south of Riverside Drive can be expected. Two way traffic will be maintained to and from Miss Bloomingdale's Academy. Beginning February 8, Teleport will be closed south of Riverside Drive between 7:00 p.m and 6:00 a.m. as crews complete utility relocation operations. Access to and from Miss Bloomingdale's Academy will be maintained during the day. These activities are scheduled to last for 4-6 weeks. Expect impacts to the Riverside Commons fire lane over the next several weeks as crews continue utility relocation work and prepare for the bridge structure in that area. LAKE CAROLYN PARKWAY AREA: Construction activity is quickly ramping up in along the Lake Carolyn Pkwy area. Current activities include utility relocations that will require various lane closures and traffic configurations to provide a safe work space for crews to complete construction activities. Station construction activities are underway with grading operations that will impact traffic on both northbound and southbound Lake Carolyn Pkwy, south of O'Connor. Pedestrians need to remember that it is not safe for them to enter construction zones, so they will need to use alternate pet walking and jogging routes. Motorists are also asked to monitor construction updates and observe and changed speed limits or traffic configurations when traveling through this construction zone. Motorists are not permitted to enter or park inside construction zones. Additional lane restrictions and rolling closures may be required to provide a safe work area as crews continue to progress with the project. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Curb removal Utility relocation Station work ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: There will be lane restrictions on the inside, median lanes of both northbound and southbound Lake Carolyn Pkwy for utility relocation activities, this work will be on-going for several weeks. Please see map (PDF file opens in a new window). Utility relocations along Las Colinas Blvd and into Lake Carolyn Pkwy will be on-going. These relocations will require various lane restrictions and a "rolling" closure that will direct traffic around the activity happening within the median. Construction activity for the Las Colinas Urban Center Station is underway. Construction activities will require lane closures on both northbound and southbound Lake Carolyn Pkwy south of O'Connor. These activities are scheduled to take place for several months. Please see map of configuration 12 (PDF file opens in a new window). CONVENTION CENTER AREA: Expect to see increased truck traffic and construction activity around the Convention Center area starting with grading operations. Drill shaft activities will continue through February in this area. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Grading Drill Shaft Operations ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: The night of February 9 (9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.) the ramp from eastbound 114 to eastbound Northwest Hwy will be closed. Also, the left lane of eastbound SH 114 will be closed just after the Northwest Hwy split near Holiday Inn. These closures are required so crews can set the barrier that will create a safe work space for construction of the 114 bridge structure. Beginning the week of February 8, restrictions will be present along the left shoulder of eastbound SH 114 just after the Northwest Hwy exit and on the right shoulder of the ramp from eastbound SH 114 to eastbound Northwest Hwy. This is the split near the Holiday Inn. The restrictions are required for crews to begin preparing for the 114 bridge structure. Construction activity is scheduled to continue for the Irving Convention Center Station along Spur 348 (between SH 114 and Riverside). Lane restrictions will be required along the right lane of eastbound Spur 348 for crews to complete these activities. These restrictions are scheduled to remain in place through the end of the week. The ramp from Hidden Ridge to eastbound Northwest Hwy (at Holiday Inn Express) is scheduled to open Wednesday, February 10. Additional restrictions of this ramp will be required. Please monitor email alerts for details. NORTH LAKE COLLEGE/CARPENTER RANCH AREA: Construction activity has moved into the Carpenter Ranch area around the Meadow Creek/Green Park Dr intersection and into North Lake College starting with utility relocations. Utility relocation work will continue around the North Lake College near the driveway entrance off MacArthur. Information regarding any traffic impacts will be communicated as activities draw closer. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Utility Relocations ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: Lane restrictions of the inside, median lanes of northbound and southbound MacArthur will be required for crews to complete drill shaft operations. These restrictions will remain in place for a few months as the bridge substructure operations (drill shaft, column, column cap) are completed. Please see traffic configuration map (PDF file opens in a new window). Construction activity will continue in the area of Green Park and Meadow Creek for crews to continue utility relocates. These activities will require lane restrictions of southbound Green Park south of Meadow Creek and the westbound lanes Meadow Creek. Traffic will be shifted head to head on eastbound Meadow Creek just past the Green Park and Meadow Creek intersection. These restrictions will remain in place for several weeks. Lane restrictions on the far right lanes of both eastbound and westbound Hidden Ridge between Green Park and MacArthur will continue as crews complete utility relocation work. This work will be ongoing for several weeks as utility relocation work moves into the area. There will continue to be restrictions at the intersection of Green Park and Meadow Creek. Green Park will be closed from south of Meadow Creek to Hidden Ridge. Please see map of the traffic configuration (PDF file opens in a new window). WALNUT HILL/HURD AREA: Construction activity will continue in the Walnut Hill/Hurd area in through the month of February. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Utility Relocations ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: There will continue to be restrictions along southbound Hurd Dr during the daytime hours for crews to complete utility relocations. Truck access and business drives will be maintained in this area. Flaggers will be present to help direct traffic. These restrictions are scheduled to remain in place for about one week. There will continue to be restrictions of the far right lane of northbound Walnut Hill just north of Hidden Ridge for utility relocation work. Work in this area will be ongoing for several weeks as utility relocation work moves into the area. DFW AREA: Construction activity is moving into the DFW area the month of February. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Light clearing activities for geotechnical testing Please note that all dates are tentative as they do not account for weather delays or other schedule impacts.

Blue Line to Rowlett Updates:
