Construction crews will finalize work on the I-1 segment by late spring. DART will continue testing the new line in preparation for its opening at the end of July. Expect minor work along the DART line during testing and final construction activities. Drivers should obey flaggers at all times. Pedestrians should avoid walking on or near the DART line for their safety.

I-1: BACHMAN STATION TO IRVING CONVENTION CENTER

Segment update:
  • Crews will continue to turn on traffic signals at intersections next week. Starting next week, all traffic signals in the I-1 segment will be flashing or fully operational - use caution and pay attention to these new signals.

  • GE will perform train tests from April 25 to May 4 and May 9 to May 16 in both the daytime and nighttime. As a reminder, the concrete next to the DART rail tracks is not a sidewalk, walkway or path. Always stop, look and listen for DART vehicles!

  • Construction crews will finalize work on the I-1 segment by late spring; at this time, DART will perform integrated testing on this segment prior to its opening at the end of July.

Lane closures for the I-1 segment include:
  • Alternating left and right lane closure on southbound Lake Carolyn Parkway at California Crossing
    Dates and times: Continuously from April 23 to April 27
    Work: Paving

  • Single left lane closure on southbound Lake Carolyn Parkway from the Las Colinas/Las Colinas intersection to O'Connor Blvd.
    Dates and times: Continuously from April 23 to April 28
    Work: Pulling cable
I-2: IRVING CONVENTION CENTER TO BELT LINE STATION

Segment update:
  • Crews will install fence and a bus shelter at the Belt Line station.

  • Systems crews will install light poles, fixtures and other electrical elements at North Lake College and Belt Line stations.
Lane closures for the I-2 segment include:
  • Single right lane closure on Northwest Highway/Spur 348 at the Irving Convention Center
    Dates and times: Through May 31
    Work: Construction access
1-3: BELT LINE STATION TO DFW AIRPORT

Segment update:
  • Grading (dirt) crews will continue to prepare the work site for construction, which includes clearing the area and installing environmental controls.

  • Structures (bridge) crews will begin tying rebar and drilling shafts for the bridge that will span North Belt Line Road.

  • The utilities group will perform fire hydrant work and relocation communication lines on North Belt Line Road over the next several weeks.

Lane closures for the I-3 segment include:
  • Single right (outside) lane closure on southbound Belt Line Road between Valley View Lane and Gateway Drive
    Dates and times: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 26 and each day from April 30 to May 4
    Type of work: Building a construction entrance, utility

  • Single left (inside) lane closures on north and southbound Belt Line Road between Valley View Lane and Gateway Drive
    Dates and times: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day from April 30 to May 4, May 7 to May 11 and May 14 to May 18 (northbound lane); continuously from April 30 to May 18 (southbound lane)
    Type of work: Construction access, structures

Upcoming closures:

Centerville Road Lane Closure (Garland):
New From 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, northbound and southbound lanes of Centerville Road at the rail crossing will experience temporary lane closures. The public is asked to follow all posted traffic control signage and traffic control channeling devices.

Please note that dates are subject to change as they do not account for weather delays or other schedule impacts.

Any time you undertake a construction project, the possibility for danger is elevated. DART is urging everyone to be extra careful around its facilities, vehicles and especially the construction areas. Here are 10 tips you should know.



  1. Stop, look and listen for DART vehicles.
  2. DART Safely logo
  3. Cross the street or track at designated crosswalks only.
  4. Never walk, ride or play in front of or behind a DART vehicle.
  5. Children should always exit the bus through the front door.
  6. Do not walk, ride or play in a construction area.
  7. Never walk, ride or play on or near railroad tracks.
  8. Always stand behind the textured warning strips on rail platforms.
  9. Be careful when driving or turning across train tracks.
  10. Never try to beat a train through a crossing.
  11. Remember: Safety begins with you. Talk to your family.
