DART Test Trains Traveling along the Green Line
DART is testing trains along the southeast section of the new Green Line extension between MLK, Jr. and Buckner stations. Similar tests for the northwest section between Inwood/Love Field and North Carrollton/Frankford stations are underway.
Be Safe: Watch for Trains
While fences restrict access to most of the rail corridor, it's important to be aware that the rail line is active, with trains traveling up to 65 miles per hour depending on their location. The train at-grade crossings on the Green Line are clearly marked with signs, red flashing lights and crossing arms that come down prior to the train's arrival at the intersection.
Pedestrians, cyclists and motorists also are urged to follow these critical safety precautions:

Love Field West Community: Neighborhood Construction Advisory - West of Love Field Construction on DART's exciting Green Line expansion into Northwest Dallas, Farmers Branch and Carrollton has begun in earnest and will continue until passenger service officially begins in December 2010. Listed below is a brief outline of how some of the major streets in the neighborhood west of Love Field will be affected.
• There is a traffic switch on Denton Dr. from Mockingbird to Empire Central for paving work. The southbound lanes are closed and traffic is detoured onto the northbound lanes with one lane open in each direction. Walnut Hill/Denton Area: Construction for DART's exciting Green Line Expansion Program into Northwest Dallas, Farmers Branch and Carrollton, is underway and will continue until the new passenger service begins in December 2010. Construction in this area will necessitate occasional traffic shifts and detours as some of the local streets and infrastructure are improved. • Webb Chapel Extension at Denton Drive is reduced to one lane in each direction for the installation of underground utilities until further notice. Farmers Branch Community: Farmers Branch Park & Ride Stops To Relocate May 7th - Effective May 7, 2010 Additional construction to prepare Farmers Branch Park & Ride for the arrival of rail service will require the removal of bus stops from Denton Drive on Friday, May 7. Bus Routes 44, 185, 204, 247, 331, 400 and 486, DART On-Call and Paratransit Services vehicles will begin serving temporary stops near the future rail platform beginning with that afternoon's rush hour. Construction in this area will necessitate occasional traffic shifts and detours as some of the local streets and infrastructure are improved. • Beginning Monday, June 21 through approximately Monday, July 5, Randolph at Broadway will be closed for paving work. KEY ACTIVITIES HARRY HINES/NORTHWEST HWY./I-35E/JUSTICE WAY AREA: Crews will continue bridge construction from just west of Harry Hines/ Northwest Hwy/Spur 482 toward Justice Way requiring various lane restrictions and traffic delays. Motorists are advised to monitor Orange Line Construction alerts to help minimize travel impacts. Please plan your routes, allow extra time to reach your destination, and observe any changes in speed limits or detours. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: TRINITY RIVER AREA: Bridge construction has moved into the Trinity River area. Motorists can expect to see increased activity in the Trinity as the bridge structure continues to move west. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: SPUR 482/FEDEX/CENTRAL FREIGHT: Crews will continue utility relocation work along the Spur 482 frontage road in front of FedEx and Central Freight. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: LOOP 12/SH 114 FRONTAGE ROAD AREA: Expect construction activity and increased truck traffic along the SH 114 frontage road around Loop 12 and the old Texas Stadium site. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: TELEPORT BLVD./RIVERSIDE DRIVE AREA: Utility relocation and bridge construction continues along Teleport from Riverside Dr thru to Las Colinas Blvd. Minor lane restrictions may be required for some additional utility relocation work. Teleport Blvd will continue be closed permanently at SH 114 to thru traffic. Access to business drives along Teleport will remain open. Please use caution in this area with changing traffic configurations. Pedestrians need to remember that it is not safe for them to enter construction zones, so they will need to use alternate walking and jogging routes. Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through this area and obey the advised, posted speed limit of 25 mph. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: Construction activities for crossings will continue along Lake Carolyn Pkwy requiring restrictions to the intersections along Teleport and Lake Carolyn Pkwy, beginning with California Crossing. Please monitor construction alerts to minimize traffic impacts. Details will be communicated as these activities draw closer. Pedestrians need to remember that it is not safe for them to enter construction zones, so they will need to use alternate pet walking and jogging routes. Motorists are also asked to monitor construction updates and observe and changed speed limits or traffic configurations when traveling through this construction zone. Motorists are not permitted to enter or park inside construction zones. Additional lane restrictions and rolling closures may be required to provide a safe work area as crews continue to progress with the project. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: CONVENTION CENTER AREA: Expect to see increased truck traffic and construction activity around the Convention Center area starting with grading operations. Bridge construction activities will continue in this area. Please continue to monitor construction alerts for changes to traffic configurations or detours. There will be heavy construction activity in this area as crews begin work on the bridge structure that will extend over SH 114. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: GREEN PARK/MEADOW CREEK/CARPENTER RANCH AREA: Construction activity continues in the Carpenter Ranch area around the Meadow Creek/Green Park Dr intersection. Expect to see heavy construction activity for bridge construction, crossings, and paving in this area. Some night closures and traffic restrictions may be required to provide a safe work area. Please use caution when traveling through the area with the increased activity, and monitor construction alerts to minimize travel impacts. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: The North Lake College entrance from MacArthur Blvd will be closed beginning June 1. An additional, temporary entrance will be located off Walnut Hill. Lane restrictions and partial closures of MacArthur Blvd will be required to safely complete some of these operations. Detour routes will be provided and some night work may be required to minimize traffic impacts in the area. Please continue to monitor construction alerts for details. Please use extra caution when traveling through this area and monitor changes to speed limits or traffic configurations. Plan your routes and allow extra time to reach your destination. Pedestrians need to remember that it is not safe for them to enter construction zones, so they will need to use alternate walking and jogging routes. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: WALNUT HILL/HURD AREA: Utility relocation activity will continue in the Walnut Hill/Hurd area through June. Construction traffic will be extremely heavy in this area over the next few weeks as utility relocation and grading work move into the area. Please use caution when traveling through the area and observe changes to traffic configurations and detours. Blue Line to Rowlett Updates:

• Beginning approximately Monday, March 15, there will be various lane closures in each direction on SH-66 between Country Club and Commerce for construction on the rail bridge. This work is anticipated to continue for the next several months. View a street location map. • Richards at Commerce in downtown Rowlett is scheduled to be closed from Monday, May 3 through approximately September 3, 2010. A temporary detour road will be built off of Commerce for patrons to access businesses and homes on Richards. Detour directional signs will be in place. Any time you undertake a construction project, the possibility for danger is elevated. DART is urging everyone to be extra careful around its facilities, vehicles and especially the construction areas. Here are 10 tips you should know.
- Stop, look and listen for DART vehicles.
- Cross the street or track at designated crosswalks only.
- Never walk, ride or play in front of or behind a DART vehicle.
- Children should always exit the bus through the front door.
- Do not walk, ride or play in a construction area.
- Never walk, ride or play on or near railroad tracks.
- Always stand behind the textured warning strips on rail platforms.
- Be careful when driving or turning across train tracks.
- Never try to beat a train through a crossing.
- Remember: Safety begins with you. Talk to your family.
