HARRY HINES/NORTHWEST HWY./I-35E/JUSTICE WAY AREA: Crews will continue bridge construction from just west of Harry Hines/ Northwest Hwy/Spur 482 toward Justice Way requiring various lane restrictions and traffic delays. Motorists are advised to monitor Orange Line Construction alerts to help minimize travel impacts. Please plan your routes, allow extra time to reach your destination, and observe any changes in speed limits or detours.

    • ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS:
  • Track and OCS work will continue for the Trinity River bridge structure from Jamison/Bachman Station to the west side of the levee on the Spur 482 Frontage Rd. Certain aspects of bridge construction will require full closures to avoid work over live traffic. Information regarding these closures will be communicated.

    • Please note that all dates are tentative as they do not account for weather delays or other schedule impacts.

    TRINITY RIVER AREA: Track work and OCS installation continues through the Trinity River area. Motorists can expect to see temporary lane drops and night work. Please use caution when traveling through the area.

    • ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS:
  • Lane restrictions may be required along the Spur 482 Trinity River Bridge as track work and OCS installation continues. Please monitor changes to traffic configurations in this area and vehicles entering and exiting the site.


    • SPUR 482/FEDEX/CENTRAL FREIGHT: Crews will continue track and OCS work along the Spur 482 frontage road in front of FedEx and Central Freight. Flaggers may be present to help direct traffic.

    • ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS:
  • Restrictions along the right lane of the Spur 482 frontage road will remain in place for a few weeks.

    • Please note that all dates are tentative as they do not account for weather delays or other schedule impacts.

    LOOP 12/SH 114 FRONTAGE ROAD AREA: Expect construction activity and increased truck traffic along the SH 114 frontage road around Loop 12 and the old Texas Stadium site.

    • ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS:
  • Bridge construction will require restrictions and temporary closures of the westbound SH 114 frontage road to provide a safe work area. These restrictions are scheduled to resume the week of October 2. Details regarding these closures will be provided as activities draw closer.


  • Activities may require restrictions of the right lane of the westbound SH 114 frontage road. Please use caution with the increased construction traffic.


    • TELEPORT BLVD./RIVERSIDE DRIVE AREA: Bridge construction, crossing and track work continues along Teleport from Riverside Dr thru to Las Colinas Blvd. Minor lane restrictions may be required for miscellaneous construction activities. Teleport Blvd will continue be closed permanently at SH 114 to thru traffic. Access to business drives along Teleport will remain open. Please use caution in this area with changing traffic configurations. Pedestrians need to remember that it is not safe for them to enter construction zones, so they will need to use alternate walking and jogging routes. Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through this area and obey the advised, posted speed limit of 25 mph.

    • ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS:
  • Saturday, October 1 expect restrictions at the Las Colinas/Lake Carolyn Pkwy and Riverside/Teleport intersections beginning at 7 a.m. for rail pulling operations. These closures will be in 15-30 minute increments. Alternate routes are advised.


  • Miscellaneous lane drops will be required along Riverside Dr and Teleport over the next few weeks for systems operations. Please use caution when traveling through the area.


  • Right lane closure on southbound Teleport and the Riverside Commons driveway. Access to and from the facility will be maintained.

    • LAKE CAROLYN PARKWAY AREA: Construction activity continues along the Lake Carolyn Pkwy area. Current activities include station and crossing work that will require various lane closures and traffic configurations to provide a safe work space for crews to complete construction activities. Station construction activities are underway that will impact traffic on both northbound and southbound Lake Carolyn Pkwy, south of O'Connor.

    Pedestrians need to remember that it is not safe for them to enter construction zones, so they will need to use alternate pet walking and jogging routes. Motorists are also asked to monitor construction updates and observe and changed speed limits or traffic configurations when traveling through this construction zone. Motorists are not permitted to enter or park inside construction zones. Additional lane restrictions and rolling closures may be required to provide a safe work area as crews continue to progress with the project.

    • ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS:
  • Saturday, October 1 expect restrictions at the Las Colinas/Lake Carolyn Pkwy and Riverside/Teleport intersections beginning at 7 a.m. for rail pulling operations. These closures will be in 15-30 minute increments. Alternate routes are advised.


  • Expect miscellaneous left lane closures on southbound Lake Carolyn Pkwy from Las Colinas Blvd to Lacy Crossing through September for systems work.


  • Restrictions of Lake Carolyn Pkwy just south of O'Connor will be present for station work. Please see Lake Carolyn Parkway configuration 31 (PDF file opens in a new window).


  • There will be miscellaneous closures on O'Connor Blvd for signal work for the next several weeks. Please use caution when traveling through the area.

    CONVENTION CENTER AREA: Expect to see increased truck traffic and construction activity around the Convention Center area for station and track work. Bridge construction activities will continue in this area. Please continue to monitor construction alerts for changes to traffic configurations or detours. There will be heavy construction activity in this area as crews continue work on the bridge structure that will extend over SH 114.

  • Restrictions of the eastbound SH 114 frontage road will remain in place as crews complete bridge construction operations in the area.

    GREEN PARK/MEADOW CREEK/CARPENTER RANCH AREA: Construction activity continues in the Carpenter Ranch area around the Meadow Creek/Green Park Dr intersection. Expect to see heavy construction activity for bridge construction, crossings, and paving in this area. Some night closures and traffic restrictions may be required to provide a safe work area. Please use caution when traveling through the area with the increased activity, and monitor construction alerts to minimize travel impacts.

    • ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS:
  • Various lane restrictions may be required near the intersection of Green Park and Meadow Creek. Please use caution when traveling through this area.


    • NORTH LAKE COLLEGE/MACARTHUR AREA: Heavy construction activity is moving into the North Lake College and MacArthur area with grading, walls, bridge construction and station work. Heavy activity will continue around the North Lake College entrance off MacArthur and around MacArthur Blvd (including the median of MacArthur Blvd) to prepare for the bridge structure that will extend over MacArthur to North Lake College.

    Please use extra caution when traveling through this area and monitor changes to speed limits or traffic configurations. Plan your routes and allow extra time to reach your destination. Pedestrians need to remember that it is not safe for them to enter construction zones, so they will need to use alternate walking and jogging routes.

    • ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS:
  • Heavy truck and construction traffic along Brangus Drive to Walnut Hill and at the Brangus/Walnut Hill intersection will continue for the next few weeks. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic as necessary. Please use caution when traveling through this area and allow extra time for travel.

    WALNUT HILL/HURD AREA: Heavy construction activity will continue in the Walnut Hill/Hurd area through late 2011. Construction traffic will be extremely heavy in this area over the next few weeks as crossing work moves into the area. Please use caution when traveling through the area and observe changes to traffic configurations and detours.

    • ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS:
  • Crossing work for Hurd Drive will continue through the end of September with variations to the traffic pattern. This work will require a full closure of Hurd Dr. Variations of this closure will be required through the end of September to complete the crossing work.     • DFW AREA: Construction activity continues in the DFW area.

    Upcoming closures:

    Rowlett Road, Dexham, and Centerville Road Lane Restrictions (Rowlett and Garland):
    • From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, August 22 through Saturday, December 31, the At Grade Light Rail Crossings at Rowlett, Dexham, and Centerville Road will experience temporary lane restrictions. The public is asked to follow all posted traffic control signage and traffic control channeling devices.

    Walnut Street Closures:
    • From 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, September 14 through Saturday, October 15, the eastbound lanes of Walnut Street in the City of Garland from N. 4th Street to N. 1st Street as well as from N. 1st Street to Lavon Drive will be closed to all through traffic. The public is asked to follow all posted traffic control signage, traffic control channeling devices and posted detour routes.

    Centerville Road Lane Restrictions (Garland):
    • From 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, through Wednesday, September 28, the northbound and southbound lanes at the Centerville Road At-Grade Light Rail Crossing will experience temporary lane restrictions. The public is asked to follow all posted traffic control signage and traffic control channeling devices.

    Rowlett Road Lane Restrictions (Rowlett):
    New From 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, the northbound and southbound lanes at the Rowlett Road At-Grade Light Rail Crossing will experience temporary lane restrictions. The public is asked to follow all posted traffic control signage and traffic control channeling devices.

    Any time you undertake a construction project, the possibility for danger is elevated. DART is urging everyone to be extra careful around its facilities, vehicles and especially the construction areas. Here are 10 tips you should know.


    1. Stop, look and listen for DART vehicles.
      2. DART Safely logo
    2. Cross the street or track at designated crosswalks only.
    3. Never walk, ride or play in front of or behind a DART vehicle.
    4. Children should always exit the bus through the front door.
    5. Do not walk, ride or play in a construction area.
    6. Never walk, ride or play on or near railroad tracks.
    7. Always stand behind the textured warning strips on rail platforms.
    8. Be careful when driving or turning across train tracks.
    9. Never try to beat a train through a crossing.
    10. Remember: Safety begins with you. Talk to your family.
