DART GREEN LINE
Working for the future of your community

Image of DART Rail trainsIn just over three years, DART's Green Line will offer residents in your neighborhood fast, traffic-free connections to Carrollton, downtown Dallas, Pleasant Grove and many points between. In addition, we will be making substantial upgrades to Denton Drive, particularly at Empire Central, Anson, Gilford and Burbank, where new turn lanes and traffic signals will be installed.

In the meantime, construction will be under way to make these improvements a reality. DART is committed to minimizing inconveniences as much as possible and to keeping your neighborhood informed! While we regret the disruption, we are confident that the neighborhood will be pleased with the end results.

Street openings and closures will be staggered so that residents continue to have the best access possible under the circumstances. DART will provide notification so that you will know what to expect in advance. As with any project this size, there are several tiers of subcontractors, and lots going on at any one time. Occasionally, the most accurate information we're able to give becomes subject to last-minute changes or delays. DART is committed to providing the most accurate, up-to-date construction information that we can.

The very latest construction updates can always be found on DART's Web site.

Love Field Station Rendering
DART rail stations are one-of-a-kind facilities with generous provisions
for public art and landscaping. Love Field Station (above) was designed
with plenty of public input from the community.

Improvements are coming to Little Denton Drive

In addition to the public art and landscaping that goes into all DART Rail stations, the DART Board of Directors has approved a number of additional betterments along the corridor to beautify Little Denton Drive and enhance access in the area.

In February 2007, the DART Board approved $900,000 for "betterments" between Little Denton Drive and the rail corridor, including additional vinyl-coated fencing and added landscaping. What's more, the Board approved $3.5 million to rebuild Little Denton Drive, adding curbs and a sidewalk along the street. These improvements will enhance safety for the entire neighborhood.

The wheels are in motion ...

Construction at the Southwestern Medical District/Parkland Station image
  • March 28, 2007: The Dallas City Council approved four railroad crossing closures along Denton Drive - Brookfield, Lovers, Langdon and Lovedale - in order to allow construction to begin on this important part of the Green Line. These four street crossings are to remain closed permanently.

  • June 27, 2007: The Dallas City Council approved the "specific use permit" zoning, allowing the future construction of Love Field Station.

  • Did you know? According to a study conducted by the University of North Texas, the value of residential properties near DART stations increased 39 percent more than comparable properties that weren't near DART Rail.

The Green Line is part of a major expansion effort to more than double the DART Rail system from its current 45 miles to 93 miles, connecting you to the larger network of public transportation.
