Telling time by the skies
Based on the Chinese cultural entity Ming, meaning "brightness," Michael Brown's Sun/Moon timepiece acknowledges that the sun, moon and stars were used for navigation and timekeeping before the invention of mechanical devices. The round shapes of the moon and sun echo the arched canopies of the station and the tall, circular arches of the building columns flanking both sides of the Downtown Transitway Mall.
