Get into the Holiday Spirit! Take DART to these seasonal shows.

Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the holidays, and enjoy a little magic. These holiday performances will get you in the spirit of the season - and best of all, you won't have to drive, because DART's got you covered.

For a fun take on "The Nutcracker" ballet, head to Farmers Branch for Fireside Nutcracker Goes to Broadway! There are sugarplum fairies and a nutcracker, of course. Add a joyous variety of dance, including jazz, hip-hop, tap and ballet, and you've got a whole new way of seeing the iconic tale. The family-friendly production runs Dec. 7-10, and the popular Firehouse Theatre is about three blocks from Farmers Branch Station. Find out more at

The Nutcracker is a holiday favorite, full of spectacle, scenery and fantastical creations. You can't beat the Dallas Ballet Company's annual production. The story has become a Christmas tradition. With a cast of 200, Tchaikovsky's classic is guaranteed to delight. The show runs Dec. 1-10 at the Granville Arts Center, adjacent to Downtown Garland Station. There's more information at

If you've never seen a 150-man chorus performing Christmas favorites, get to the Eisemann Center for Performing Arts. From Dec. 21-24, The Vocal Majority will perform its acclaimed holiday program in two acts. Act 1 is a yuletide version of "West Side Story," in which the Elves and the Penguins duel it out in a Christmas sing-off. Act 2 features treasured and sacred Christmas songs. The venue for this rousing performance is next to Galatyn Park Station. Check it out at

Mannheim Steamroller is a beloved pioneer in both New Age music and creative interpretations of holiday classics. The group has been around for 40 years; its Christmas show, more than 30. Its unique sound blends orchestral music with elements of New Age and rock. Expect zest, gusto and plenty of drums when these first-rate musicians come to town with "Mannheim Steamroller Christmas" on Dec. 28. Catch the warmth, pizazz and joy at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory, near Irving Convention Center Station. Visit for more details.

See the Dallas Theater Center's production of A Christmas Carol Nov. 22-Dec. 28 at the Wyly Theatre. The family favorite is reimagined, with lots of traditional Christmas music, terrific staging and choreography, and plenty of impressive special effects. The familiar tale delivers a timelessly moving message. The theater is a short walk from Pearl/Arts District Station and also is accessible via D-Link (Route 722). Find out more at
