With the opening of the first phase of the Green Line, the DART Rail System is on schedule to nearly double in miles, from 48 to 90 miles and grow from 39 stations to 62 stations by 2013. The first phase of the 28-mile, $1.8 billion project extends southeast of downtown Dallas to Fair Park. That section opened on September 14, 2009 along with daily service to Victory Station. The remainder of the Green Line will open December 6, 2010.When complete, the Green Line will serve several regional destinations, including Deep Ellum, Baylor University Medical Center, Victory Park, the Dallas Market Center, the UT Southwestern Medical District, Love Field Airport, and the cities of Farmers Branch and Carrollton.

Take a ride on a DART Rail test train as it makes a track run between Walnut Hill/Denton Station and North Carrollton/Frankford Station.
Be safe and watch for test trains along the new sections of the Green Line, between MLK, Jr. and Buckner stations on the southeast corridor and between Victory and North Carrollton/Frankford stations on the northwest corridor. While fences restrict access to most of the rail corridor, it's important to be aware that the rail line is active, with trains traveling up to 65 miles per hour depending on their location. The train at-grade crossings on the Green Line are clearly marked with signs, red flashing lights and crossing arms that come down prior to the train's arrival at the intersection.
