Free event marks 50th anniversary of Older Americans Act

DART Hosts Annual Senior Citizens Health Fair

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), the City of Dallas and the Community Council of Greater Dallas invite senior citizens to "Get into the Act" and celebrate Older Americans Month at the 21st Annual Older Americans Information and Health Fair, Thurs., May 7, at Centennial Hall in Fair Park.

At the free event seniors can "Get into the Act" from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and take charge with health screenings, entertainment, prizes, giveaways and engagement with others in the community. They can also reflect on the 50th anniversary of the Older Americans Act signed into law in July 1965 by President Lyndon B. Johnson.

Attendees are encouraged to save on parking and ride DART's Green Line directly to Fair Park Station. Passengers who show their valid pass at the event receive a special prize. It's a short walk from the station to Centennial Hall where they can meet special guests KTVT Channel 11 news reporter Steve Pickett and DART President/Executive Director Gary Thomas.

Contact Jessica Lennon, DART's Manager of Community/Education Outreach at 214-749-2582 for more information. Visit DART.org or call 214-979-1111 for information on riding DART.
