Heads Up North Texas: Friday is National Bike to Work Day
Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is encouraging you to consider adding two wheels to your morning commute for national Bike to Work Day, Friday, May 19.
Join other cyclists on the road pedaling to work, appointments and shopping. Visit one of several "energizer" stations set up by DART and local bike enthusiasts to celebrate Bike to Work Day. Stop by and meet with Bike DFW, North Central Texas Council of Governments, local bike groups, shops and area partners while getting free bike tune-ups, treats, promotional items and tips on safety from 7 to 9:00 a.m.
Energizer stations for 2017 will be at DART's Downtown Plano Station, 1001 E. 16th St.; Cityline/Bush Station, 1300 East President George Bush Highway; Mockingbird Station, 5465 E. Mockingbird Lane; St. Paul Station on Bryan Ave in downtown Dallas; Farmers Branch Station, 12800 Denton Road; Addison Transit Center, 4925 Arapaho Rd. and at the Dallas Streetcar's Oakenwald stop, 1501 N. Zang Blvd. (Stations are subject to change.) Visit DART.org/Bikes or call 214-979-1111 for more information.
From 2000 to 2013, the number of U.S. bicycle commuters has grown by more than 62 percent as cyclists have found it popular to combine travel with exercise, transit, savings on costs, fuel, parking fees, car maintenance and with helping the environment.
