DART Auditor Selected New Chief Financial Officer Sharon Mogford Leary, DART's director of internal audit, has been named the transit agency's new chief financial officer, according to Roger Snoble, DART's president/executive director. Leary replaces Chris Poinsatte, who resigned March 7 to become chief financial officer at NextJet, Inc.
Leary, who will begin her new duties May 1, joined DART as director of internal audit in May 1998. A certified public accountant and certified internal auditor, Leary previously served as head of the audit department at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas for more than nine years. She holds an accounting degree from Southwest Texas State University.
The responsibilities of DART's chief financial officer include budgeting, financial planning, strategic planning, re-engineering, total quality management, investments, federal funding, debt financing, efficiency reviews, accounts payable, general accounting, telecommunications and information technology.
DART treasurer Nathan Hallett served as interim CFO. He will continue as treasurer. Hallett has more than 30 years of treasury and financial experience and has been with DART since February 2000. Prior to DART, he worked as treasury director at Dresser Industries.
"DART is in an excellent position to more than double our light rail system in the next two years and double it again by the end of the decade," Snoble said. "We are fortunate to have such high-caliber people in these key positions and throughout the agency." -- 30 --
