The Federal Transit Administration has recognized DART with the DOT Grant Recipient Award for creating new opportunities for minority-owned and women-owned businesses during its light rail expansion.

U.S. Secretary of Transportation Norman Y. Mineta (left) and Federal Transit Administrator Jennifer L. Dorn (right) presented the DOT Grant Recipient Award to DART Vice President of Diversity and Economic Development Gloria Dixon at the National Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Conference last month in Washington, D.C. DART was one of six public agencies recognized for superior efforts to enhance minority-owned and women-owned business participation in contracts and purchases.

DART was one of six public agencies recognized for superior efforts to enhance minority-owned and women-owned business participation in its contracts and purchases.

Dixon attributed the agency's success to its innovative procurement initiatives, individual contract goal setting and extensive involvement in the solicitation process. "It's an honor to be recognized as an agency that is dedicated to ensuring optimum opportunities for MWBE firms in DART's procurement arena. The entire team works hard to set realistic, attainable goals and our track record on past projects reflects that commitment," said Dixon.
