Happy New Year!
DART Adds Service for New Year's Eve, New Year's Day
DART services will run on an adjusted schedule during the Christmas holiday.
DART is extending service on New Year's Eve, with bus and light rail running as late as 2:30 a.m., and Trinity Railway Express commuter rail operating until 1:30 a.m. between downtown Dallas and Irving. The added bus and rail service is for customers attending the Dallas 2000 party and other New Year's events downtown.
On New Year's Day, DART light rail and bus service will follow a standard Sunday schedule, but the Trinity Railway Express will not operate. For football fans, DART will again offer the New Year's Day Cotton Bowl Flyer from several suburban park and ride locations.
DART Bus Service
On Friday, December 31, DART bus service will follow a modified Saturday schedule. To accommodate the Dallas 2000 party downtown, routes serving rail stations will operate until the arrival of the last train. This includes routes 405, 444, 510, 515, 522, 538, 549, 554 and 555.
Service also will be extended until 2:30 a.m. on routes 1, 2, 3, 11, 12, 19, 35, 42, 44, 46, 50, 51, 76, 161, 164.
DART Light Rail Service
On Friday, December 31, DART will add light rail service for New Year's revelers from 5:00 p.m. until 2:30 a.m., January 1. During that time, trains will operate on a rush hour schedule on both the Blue and Red lines with the Blue line extended to Mockingbird Station.
DART Express Bus Service
On Friday, December 31, Route 202 will operate on a Saturday schedule. DART has added suburban express bus service for the day from five other locations. These buses will operate on special schedules. Trips will depart the transit centers between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Return trips from downtown Dallas will begin at 3:30 p.m., operating until 6:00 p.m. Express bus trips will operate between the following transit centers and downtown Dallas:
Glenn Heights Route 206
North Carrollton Route 204
West Plano Route 210
Garland Central Route 282
Lake Ray Hubbard Route 283
Earlier and more frequent trips also will be added to Route 511 linking the East Plano and Richardson Transit Centers with the Park Lane rail station.
Cotton Bowl Flyer
DART's Cotton Bowl Flyer carries passengers from five convenient locations on New Year's Day. The adult fare is $7. Children between the ages of five and 11, senior citizens and disabled customers ride for $6. Parking is free at each park & ride location.
Cotton Bowl Service tickets may be purchased at the park & ride lots the day of the game. Game-day ticket sales at the park & ride lots are cash only and customers must have exact change.
Buses begin leaving the park & ride locations two hours before game time. The last buses leave the park & ride lots for the stadium about one hour prior to game time. The last bus from the game leaves the Cotton Bowl 30 minutes after the end of the game. Wheelchair lift-equipped buses are available.
Cotton Bowl Flyer locations include:
North Central Transit Center (Coit Road, south of LBJ)
North Carrollton Transit Center (Trinity Mills Rd. at Dickerson)
West Plano Transit Center (West 15th St. at Coit)
Red Bird Transit Center (US 67 at Hampton Rd.)
South Garland Transit Center (LBJ Service Rd., between Shiloh Rd. & Leon Rd.)
Trinity Railway Express Commuter Rail Service
On Friday, December 31, the Trinity Railway Express linking downtown Dallas and Irving will operate on a modified schedule. Service from South Irving Station begins at 6:05 a.m., and service from Union Station starts at Dallas at 6:35 a.m. Trains will depart every hour with the last train leaving Union Station at 1:35 a.m.
The Trinity Railway Express will not operate additional service during the day or evening on January 1.
HOV Lanes
The High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane on I-30 East R.L. Thornton and the reversible S-ramp at the southern end of the I-35E Stemmons HOV lanes will be closed the week of December 27, due to traditionally low traffic volumes during the holidays and the need to perform routine maintenance. The facilities will re-open on January 3.
DART Paratransit Services
On Friday, December 31 and Saturday, January 1, DART Paratransit Services for customers with disabilities will operate a Sunday schedule. This means regular subscription trips are canceled, and any customer needing service on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day must call two days in advance to schedule their trips. Customers should call 214-515-7272, and choose Option 3 to schedule their trip.
