DART On-Call, New Park & Ride, Coming to Rowlett

Riding DART in Rowlett is getting easier. DART is opening a new Park & Ride, adding more bus service and bringing its popular DART On-Call service to town.

New Rowlett Park & Ride Opens, routes changing
Customers can now take advantage of the new Rowlett Park & Ride facility, located on the southeast corner of Industrial Street and Martin Drive. The Park & Ride features an enhanced passenger shelter and parking for 326 cars. Other amenities will be added when the site is eventually redeveloped as a DART light rail station.

Routes are being changed to make it easier for customers using the new Rowlett Park & Ride. For example, the current express route, Route 207; between Rowlett and downtown Dallas will now stop at the Rowlett Park & Ride and the Christian City Park & Ride. The route will no longer stop at the Brookshire's parking lot on Rowlett Road.

Route 412, formerly Route 383, will be modified to provide a link between the Lake Ray Hubbard Park & Ride, Rowlett Park & Ride and Garland Central Transit Center. Route 412 also will serve businesses along State Highways 78 and 190. The portion of the former Route 383 along State Highway 66 east to Dalrock Road and Chiesa Road will be replaced with the new DART On-Call service.

DART On-Call Debuts
DART On-Call, the shuttle van service that has been a hit in Plano, is making its way to East Rowlett. Between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, residents can call 214-822-CALL (2255) for trips between their homes and the new Rowlett Park & Ride, or during midday hours to other local destinations. Beginning Friday, May 19, customers can make reservations; however, service does not begin until Monday, May 22.

The DART On-Call service in Rowlett is provided within an area bounded by the northern and eastern city limits, I-30 on the south, and Lake Ray Hubbard and Muddy Creek on the west. One-way trips are $2, with free transfers to any DART bus route. Premium monthly passes, premium single-ride tickets and valid transfer tickets are also accepted. Students, seniors and people with disabilities can ride for the $1 reduced fare with an appropriate DART photo ID card, Medicare card or school photo ID card.

Customers needing more information on Rowlett's improved bus service, DART On-Call, the new Park & Ride facility or general schedule information, can call DART Customer Information at 214-979-1111 or visit the DART website at www.DART.org.
