Gerald J. Ford Stadium imageGerald J. Ford Stadium (SMU)
5800 Ownby Dr., Dallas
Gerald J. Ford Stadium and the Paul B. Loyd All-Sports Center mark the most significant facility additions to Southern Methodist University's campus in years, possibly since Dallas Hall became SMU's first building. The stadium was designed in the Collegiate-Georgian style that is consistent with the rest of SMU's campus. There are 32,000 seats, and the capacity could be expanded to 45,000 by converting the stadium's horse shoe shape into an oval. The stadium was also designed to hold a regulation soccer field in keeping with SMU's ambition of hosting an NCAA Soccer Tournament.
