DART Rail Construction Alerts
June 7, 2016
Blue Line Construction Will Mean Detours, Rail Disruption All Weekend, Effective June 18-19, 2016If your commute involves the Blue Line anywhere between Kiest and Ledbetter stations over the weekend of June 18-19, please allow extra travel time and pack plenty of patience.
DART will be performing both grade crossing and overhead power line work to connect the existing Blue Line to its new southern extension, requiring:
- substitution of bus shuttles for rail service between Kiest and Ledbetter stations;
- detour of all feeder bus routes to the south entrance to Ledbetter Station and relocation of the Route 466 bus stop; and
- weekend closure of the parking lot at Ledbetter.
Shuttle buses will meet trains arriving at Kiest Station and continue south to serve VA Medical Center and Ledbetter stations; these buses will board and unload at the red bus stops at each station. With closure of Bay 1 at Ledbetter, a temporary stop for Route 466 will be placed south of the existing bays. For customers who must drive, a limited amount of parking will be available at Kiest Station.
We apologize for the temporary inconvenience as we prepare our system for its latest expansion.

Portion Of Dallas Streetcar To Close As Expansion Nears, Effective Wednesday, April 13, 2016Beginning Wednesday, April 13, construction will require the partial closure of the Dallas Streetcar for approximately five weeks.
The free service will operate from Dallas Union Station to Oakenwald only. Between Oakenwald and Beckley stops, customers may use Route 722 D-Link Monday through Saturday, 11:30 a.m.-midnight. During non-D-Link hours, a free DART shuttle will serve that segment.
The construction is necessary to physically connect the current streetcar and its future extension to the Bishop Arts area, scheduled for completion in August. The work will also cause the relocation of several bus stops along Colorado Blvd.
ADA Ramp Removed During Redesign Work At Ledbetter Station, Effective Monday, April 11, 2016Beginning Monday, April 11, 2016, passengers with disabilities can expect changes when accessing the train platform from the parking lot at Ledbetter Station.
As construction continues at the station, the ramp connecting the parking area to the train platforms will be taken out of service and spaces reserved for disabled parking will be temporarily unavailable.
Four temporary spaces will be available in the new passenger load/unload area at the front of the station accessible from Lancaster Road, and will be specifically designated for passengers with disability placards or license plates. Towing will be strictly enforced. Additional parking will be available at Kiest Station.
Once construction is complete - expected in late May - this area will return to its regular passenger load/unload function and the ramp will be opened for use, this time with lowered walls to improve visibility. Normal parking will be re-established.
Ledbetter Station Construction: Platform Extension, Effective March 21, 2016This phase of the construction process over the next four to five months extends the East and West Platforms, allowing longer trains and more seating for you.
Temporary Changes To Expect:
- The southern crossing will be closed; only the north walkway will be open.
- Most train activity will be directed to the East Platform; trains will use the West Platform only in the event a train is occupying the east track. Please plan your trip accordingly to prevent missing your connection.
- Due to the construction, the shelter serving Bus Bay 6 will be moved north, closer to Bus Bay 5.
- As always, prepare for dust and noise, and allow extra time for transfers when possible.
Any time you undertake a construction project, the possibility for danger is elevated. DART is urging everyone to be extra careful around its facilities, vehicles and especially the construction areas. Here are 10 tips you should know.

- Never walk, ride or play in front of or behind a DART vehicle.
- Children should always exit the bus through the front door.
- Do not walk, ride or play in a construction area.
- Never walk, ride or play on or near railroad tracks.

- Be careful when driving or turning across train tracks.
