Warm Up to a Hot Cup
Nothing beats a hot beverage on a cold day. Better yet if you can take off your coat, relax and catch up on your news feed or a good book. Luckily, several such places are DARTable.

1418 Coffeehouse in Downtown Plano Arts District makes you instantly feel like a regular. This local favorite offers an eclectic mix of couches and chairs, housed in a cool circa-1917 building. The coffee is awesome, too. Beans are sourced locally, as is the great selection of hot teas. They serve beer and wine, as well, at this spot near Downtown Plano Station.

Historic Downtown Carrollton also is no stranger to great java. C2 Café is a homey, warm spot that serves breakfast and lunch, but also is perfect for hanging out over a cup of joe. The specialty coffees can't be beat, and the large windows let you take in the small-town vibe. The café is on the downtown square, a short walk from Downtown Carrollton Station.

Coffee and tea are trusty standbys on a blustery day, but their cousin from Mexico also is a treat. Horchata is a warming beverage that's a little different everywhere you go, but almost always features cinnamon. CocoAndré Chocolatier in the Bishop Arts District has a creamy, housemade version that comes three ways and is one of its most popular items. The gourmet chocolate shop is three blocks from the Bishop Arts stop on the Dallas Streetcar.

The small, Seattle-based Top Pot Doughnuts chain sells gourmet doughnuts and hand-roasts its own coffee in small batches, so it's as fresh a cup as you'll find. Carefully sourced beans are sustainably farmed. Try the Richardson location, just steps from CityLine/Bush Station.
