Dallas Mavericks
Through Apr. 10 The Dallas Mavericks take to the court with renewed determination to advance through the NBA playoffs and go all the way to the finals. Nov. 18 The Girls on the Run 5k is a non-competitive community-wide 5K run/walk celebrating the strength and spirit of girls in our community. All are welcome! It's a 5K race like no other in the area. The race will take girls past the stunning Art Deco architecture of Fair Park. In the process, they'll use vigorous physical activity to develop a positive self-image. Cheer teams along the course will encourage the runners further, and there will be a post-run celebration abundant with even more fun activities for the participants. The race begins at 8 a.m. in Fair Park, 3839 S. Fitzhugh Avenue (Gate 11 entrance). Information: www.gotrdfw.org.

Nov. 18 The Team USA WinterFest presented by HERSHEY'S is a multi-stop festival crisscrossing the country - and making a stop in Seoul - to bring the energy and excitement of the Olympics and Paralympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 to Team USA fans around the globe. The tour will feature athlete meet and greets, interactive experiences and more. It happens from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Ginsburg Family Great Lawn at Klyde Warren Park, 2012 Woodall Rogers Freeway. Nov. 23 Capital One Bank Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot is the traditional way to begin Thanksgiving Day for many in Dallas. Featuring both a 5K fun run and an eight-mile course, it benefits the Dallas YMCA. Same-day registration is available. The fun begins at 9 a.m. at Dallas City Hall, 1500 Marilla St. Information: thetrot.org.
  • Via DART Rail Red Line or Blue Line to Convention Center Station
  • Note: Three additional Red Line trains from Parker Road Station depart at 7:13 a.m., 7:43 a.m. and 8:13 a.m. and arrive at Convention Center Station at 8:00 a.m., 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. These trains serve all stations between Parker Road and Cedars stations. One additional Blue Line train from Downtown Rowlett Station departs at 7:22 a.m. and arrives at Convention Center Station at 8:05 a.m. This train serves all stations between Downtown Rowlett and Cedars stations.
  • DART buses and light rail trains will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thursday, Nov. 23. The TRE will not operate on Thanksgiving Day.

Nov. 25 Presented by the Zaxby's Heart of Dallas Bowl, The Guns and Hoses Foundation of North Texas will be hosting the second annual Climb for Community in the Cotton Bowl Stadium. The Climb for Community honors First Responders who have sacrificed their lives protecting our communities and offers support for their loved ones left behind. First Responders and members of the community come together for a morning of fitness and reflection in a truly creative setting. This family friendly event starts at 8 a.m. and will include a climb of over 3,100 steps, a fire engine display, SWAT Bearcat, activities for kids, free food, and drinks. Through Nov. 25 SMU Mustangs face tough American Athletic Conference and non-conference rivals in home games at Gerald J. Ford Stadium on the SMU campus at Mockingbird Land and Central Expressway. A shuttle bus service is available on game days and concludes 1 hour post game. Coming up:

Dec. 10 The BMW Dallas Marathon course begins and ends in Downtown Dallas and highlights the best areas of the city. Along the way, runners will pass through various popular neighborhoods with exciting cheer stations and on-course entertainment before finishing the race at Dallas City Hall Plaza. The Full and Half Marathons begin at 8:10 a.m. Held in conjunction with the race, the Health & Fitness Expo is a two-day event filled with merchandise, information and exhibits related to the running, fitness and health industries. The Health & Fitness Expo is held in conjunction with the BMW Dallas Marathon, Half Marathon & SMU Cox School of Business Relay and will serve as the official packet pick-up location for all runners. Admission to the Fitness Expo at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, 650 S. Griffin Street, is free. Runners and spectators can easily travel to the BMW Dallas Marathon Health and Fitness Expo, the start and finish line and throughout the run course via DART Rail. Dec. 26 Zaxby's Heart of Dallas Bowl returns to the historic Cotton Bowl stadium in Fair Park. At 12:30 p.m., it's Game Time! See the Big Ten Conference square off against the Big 12 Confernce on the gridiron in the historic Cotton Bowl Stadium at Fair Park. First responders can receive up to 4 free tickets.
