Commuter Rail service to special events
Game Trains roll on the Trinity Railway Express Dec. 6
Highlighting the ease of getting to sports events by train, the Trinity Railway Express launches its special event "Game Train" service Dec. 6 from three Tarrant County stations to the Mavericks-Knicks basketball game at Reunion Arena in Dallas.
The new Game Trains will operate between Richland Hills Station, Hurst/Bell Station and Dallas' Union Station for all home Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Stars games, Monday through Saturday. The trains also stop at CentrePort/DFW Airport Station, West Irving Station, South Irving Station and Medical/Market Center Station. The service will include three return trips from Union Station (just steps away from Reunion Arena) after each night game, at 10 p.m., 11:05 p.m. and 12:10 a.m.
Fares are $2 per person each way in Tarrant County or $1 per person each way in Dallas County. Fares are covered by any monthly pass issued by the T or DART, the partners operating the Trinity Railway Express. On weekdays, the Mavericks Game Train will depart Richland Hills Station at 5:31 p.m. and arrive at Union Station at 6:20 p.m. for 7 p.m. tip-offs. Dallas Stars Game Trains will pull out of Richland Hills at 6:26 p.m. and arrive at Union Station at 7:19 p.m. for 7:30 p.m. face-offs. Saturday and special service schedules are available on the Internet and by calling customer service.
The Trinity Railway Express extended its service on September 18 from South Irving Station to Richland Hills Station, Hurst/Bell Station and CentrePort/DFW Airport Station. About 4,300 passengers ride the Trinity Railway Express each weekday.
To celebrate the initial Game Train on Dec. 6, the Trinity Railway Express is sponsoring tailgate parties 4-6 p.m. in the parking lots of all three Tarrant County stations Richland Hills Station (at Handley Ederville & SH 121), Hurst/Bell Station (3232 Bell Spur Drive at Trinity Blvd.) and CentrePort/DFW Airport Station (14470 Statler Blvd. southeast of Trinity Blvd. and SH 360), including free hot dogs, popcorn and soda.
