Starting December 3
Trinity Railway Express Connects Dallas and Fort Worth
The Trinity Railway Express, the Southwest's first modern commuter rail line and the largest regional transportation venture since the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport nearly 30 years ago, will connect Dallas and Fort Worth beginning December 3.
What began as a 10-mile line between downtown Dallas and Irving in December 1996 and extended west to Richland Hills in September 2000, the completed line will reach two downtown Fort Worth stations: the Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC) at 9th and Jones Street and the T&P Station at West Lancaster and Throckmorton streets.
On weekdays, the trains will operate westbound from Dallas' Union Station between 5:30 a.m. and 11 p.m. Eastbound departures from Fort Worth's T&P Station will be from 5:30 a.m. to 10:45 p.m., with an estimated commute time of one hour between Dallas and Fort Worth. Fares will be $2 for a one-way trip or $4 round-trip.
The Trinity Railway Express (TRE), the first interurban train service between Dallas and Fort Worth since the mid-30s, is a joint service of DART and the Fort Worth T. The TRE currently serves seven stations in Dallas and Tarrant counties, including Dallas Union Station, Medical/Market Center, South Irving, West Irving, CentrePort/DFW Airport, Hurst Bell and Richland Hills.
