More Trains, More Service Coming to Mockingbird Station With Extension of the Blue Line
The trip between downtown Dallas and DART's Mockingbird Rail Station is about to become more convenient when service on the Blue Line expands starting Monday, September 27.
Thanks to the recent purchase of more light rail cars, DART will be able to run two-car trains on all Blue Line trips and extend the northern destination from Pearl Station to Mockingbird Station on weekdays from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Blue Line trains will continue to end their trip at Pearl Station after 7 p.m. on weekdays and on all weekend trips.
Over the next several months, DART will add 55 light rail cars, doubling the current fleet to provide service to White Rock Station in fall 2001, Richardson by summer 2002, Garland by fall 2002 and Plano by summer 2003.
Red and Blue line timetables are being modified to accommodate the increased rail service. In addition, many bus routes serving light rail stations will experience slight schedule adjustments. These bus routes are: 156, 173, 405, 488, 501, 502, 506, 511, 515, 522, 527, 538, 539, 548, 549, 553, 554, 555, 568, 569, 574, 577, 582, 583 and 702.
Other bus routes being modified on September 27 include 12, 24, 311, 466 and 475.
New timetables are available at DART stations and transit centers. Customers also can call 214-979-1111 for additional information.
