Market Center Community construction information

Market Center Community: • From 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly from Wednesday, June 24 through approximately Wednesday, July 8, some lanes on Oak Lawn below the rail guideway will be closed. The outside lane of eastbound Oak Lawn will be closed first, with two-way traffic diverted to the westbound side. When work is completed and moves to the westbound side, the two-way traffic diversion will move to the eastbound side of Oak Lawn. Love Field West Community construction information

Love Field West Community: Neighborhood Construction Advisory - West of Love Field Construction on DART's exciting Green Line expansion into Northwest Dallas, Farmers Branch and Carrollton has begun in earnest and will continue until passenger service officially begins in December 2010. Listed below is a brief outline of how some of the major streets in the neighborhood west of Love Field will be affected.
Construction for DART's new Green Line will require the temporary closure of four streets at the railroad crossing near Denton Drive, beginning on or around Monday, May. 25. The closures will involve two streets at a time with each lasting approximately one week. Anson and Gilford will be the first streets affected on or around May 25. To reach Anson, traffic from Denton will be detoured to south to Empire Central, then north on Little Denton to Anson. To get to Gilford, vehicles will be detoured north to Burbank and south on Little Denton to Gilford. Upon the completion and re-opening of Anson and Gilford, work will begin on Burbank and Empire Central, and the detours will be reversed. Gilford and Little Denton will be used to reach Burbank, Anson and Little Denton to reach Empire Central. The Green Line is scheduled to begin passenger service between Dallas, Farmers Branch and Carrollton in December 2010. Future notifications will be provided as the construction work progresses throughout the project. For more information, call 214-749-2522. The northbound lanes are closed and traffic is detoured onto the southbound lanes with one lane open in each direction. Once the northbound lanes are completed, traffic will be switched to the new lanes while southbound lanes are paved. Walnut Hill/Denton Area construction information

Walnut Hill/Denton Area: Construction for DART's exciting Green Line Expansion Program into Northwest Dallas, Farmers Branch and Carrollton, is underway and will continue until the new passenger service begins in December 2010. Construction in this area will necessitate occasional traffic shifts and detours as some of the local streets and infrastructure are improved. • Webb Chapel Extension and Denton Drive is reduced to one lane in each direction for the installation of underground utilities until further notice. View a street location map. • Denton Drive is closed from Storey Lane to Webb Chapel until further notice. View a street location map. • Denton Drive between Willowbrook and Lombardy is reduced to one lane southbound. View a street location map. • Denton Drive between Lombardy and Walnut Hill will be closed except for local traffic. Motorists are encouraged to look for local road detour signage. Local business traffic wishing to access Denton Drive from the east will need to detour along Doric Street to Abernathy Avenue and Lombardy Lane. This work will be followed by subsequent traffic shifts at this location--each lasting for several weeks--to allow for the reconstruction of Century Drive with a direct connection to Abernathy Lane. Road construction on Century Drive is anticipated to continue until Fall 2009. • Walnut Hill near Denton Drive may have daily lane closures. Farmers Branch Community: Farmers Branch On-Call Boarding With Other DART Routes at Farmers Branch Park & Ride - Effective October 20, 2008 All Farmers Branch On-Call vehicles drop off and board passengers at the temporary transit center on Denton Drive. This is the location currently being used by Bus Routes 44, 185, 204, 247, 331, 400 and 486. Boarding will take place at the sign marked: DEPARTURES All Bus Routes All DART services will use this stop until the new Green Line rail station opens across the street in December 2010. WHAT: Full Closures of I-35E WHERE: Northbound and Southbound I-35E from Loop 12 to Harry Hines Blvd. WHEN: Southbound July 7, 2009 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Northbound July 8, 2009 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. WHY: Upcoming DART Orange Line Bridge Construction View a PDF of the closure notice and detour map (opens in a new window) Construction of the DART Orange Line to North Irving/DFW includes a bridge structure from the junction with the Green Line at the Bachman Station over Harry Hines Blvd., I-35E, along Storey Lane/Spur 482, across the Trinity River and landing along the Spur 482 Frontage Road. Traffic on I-35E will be temporarily shifted to the outside shoulder to provide a safe work area. In order to get the barrier in place for the temporary traffic shift, full closures on I-35E between Loop 12 and Harry Hines Blvd. will be required. SB I-35E will be closed Tuesday, July 7, 2009 from 9:00 p.m.—5:00 a.m. NB I-35 will be closed Wednesday, July 8, 2009 from 9:00 p.m.—5:00 a.m. Construction activities and the new shoulder alignment are expected to continue for 3-4 months in this area. Signage and police officers will be present to direct and monitor traffic during the closure. SB I-35 Detour SB I-35E will Exit 436 (Loop 12/Spur 348) west; south towards SH 114 DFW Airport/Grapevine; east on SH 114; northwest on Storey Lane/Spur 482; south on Harry Hines back to southbound I-35E. NB I-35 Detour NB I-35E will Exit 435 (Harry Hines); north on Harry Hines to Northwest Hwy; west on Northwest Hwy back to NB I-35E. • Through approximately July 10, some temporary lane restrictions may be necessary for geotechnical testing and utility location verification throughout the corridor as this process is completed. For the week of June 29: • Trinity River area: There will be grading to prepare to build the access road. Geotechnical testing continues in this area. • Old Texas Stadium/Loop 12 area: There will be grading operations and curb and gutter removals. Please remember the area around the stadium is now a construction area and not available to the public. • Central Freight and FedEx areas: Grading operations continue. Any time you undertake a construction project, the possibility for danger is elevated. DART is urging everyone to be extra careful around its facilities, vehicles and especially the construction areas. Here are 10 tips you should know.
- Stop, look and listen for DART vehicles.
- Cross the street or track at designated crosswalks only.
- Never walk, ride or play in front of or behind a DART vehicle.
- Children should always exit the bus through the front door.
- Do not walk, ride or play in a construction area.
- Never walk, ride or play on or near railroad tracks.
- Always stand behind the textured warning strips on rail platforms.
- Be careful when driving or turning across train tracks.
- Never try to beat a train through a crossing.
- Remember: Safety begins with you. Talk to your family.
