I-1: BACHMAN STATION TO IRVING CONVENTION CENTER

Segment update:
  • If you live or work on Lake Carolyn Parkway, please remember that the area next to the DART Rail tracks is not a sidewalk, walkway or path. Only cross the tracks in designated areas.

  • All traffic signals at intersections in the I-1 segment are fully operational. Drivers must treat these signals as they would any other traffic light.

  • Crews will continue work on the pedestrian bridge between the Irving Convention Center station and the convention center site.

  • By the end of the month, construction crews will be finished with work on the stations in the I-1 segment (University of Dallas, Las Colinas Urban Center and Irving Convention Center stations).

  • Construction crews will finalize work on the I-1 segment by late spring; at this time, DART will perform integrated testing on this segment prior to its opening at the end of July.

Lane closures for the I-1 segment include:
  • Various single right or left lane closures on the westbound SH 114 frontage road from Tom Braniff Drive to Riverside Drive
    Dates and times: Monday, May 21 through Friday, May 25
    Work: Punchlist work (final construction activities)

  • Various closures on north and southbound Lake Carolyn Parkway
    Dates and times: Monday, May 21 to Friday, May 25
    Work: Punchlist work (final construction activities)

  • Single right lane closure on the westbound Spur 482 frontage road at the u-turn
    Dates and times: Continuously from 6 p.m. on Friday, June 15 to 6 a.m. on Monday, June 18
    Work: Concrete paving
I-2: IRVING CONVENTION CENTER TO BELT LINE STATION

Segment update:
  • Stations crews will install drainage, complete painting and install pavers at the North Lake College Station over the next several weeks.

  • In the coming weeks, stations crews will erect walls and install pavers and trackway fence at the Belt Line Station.

Lane closures for the I-2 segment include:
  • Single right lane closure on Northwest Highway/Spur 348 at the Irving Convention Center
    Dates and times: Friday, May 18 to Thursday, May 31
    Work: Construction access

  • Various lane closures at the Green Park Drive/Meadow Creek Drive and Walnut Hill Lane/Brangus Drive intersections
    Dates and times: Monday, May 21 to Friday, May 25
    Work: Signals, signs and loop work
1-3: BELT LINE STATION TO DFW AIRPORT

Segment update:
  • Utilities crews will complete fire hydrant work on North Belt Line Road; these crews will also remove a water line, install a fire hydrant and relocate communication lines and a power pole in the Esters Blvd./Plaza Drive area.

  • Structures (bridge) crews will drill shafts and begin column work for the bridge that will span North Belt Line Road; these crews will also drill shafts on a bridge just west of Belt Line Road and another at Hackberry Creek.

  • Grading crews will build creek crossings and perform initial dirt work at North Belt Line Road.

  • In late May/early June, crews will begin building a new detour just south of Airfield Drive.

Lane closures for the I-3 segment include:
  • Single left (inside) or right (outside) lane closure on northbound Belt Line Road between Valley View Lane and Gateway Drive
    Dates and times: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day from May 21 to May 25, May 28 to June 1, and June 4 to June 8
    Type of work: Structures, utilities

  • Single left (inside) lane closure on southbound Belt Line Road between Valley View Lane and Gateway Drive
    Dates and times: Closed continuously from May 18 to June 15 (closure may be picked up when crews are not working for a period of time)
    Type of work: Structures

Any time you undertake a construction project, the possibility for danger is elevated. DART is urging everyone to be extra careful around its facilities, vehicles and especially the construction areas. Here are 10 tips you should know.


  1. Stop, look and listen for DART vehicles.
  2. DART Safely logo
  3. Cross the street or track at designated crosswalks only.
  4. Never walk, ride or play in front of or behind a DART vehicle.
  5. Children should always exit the bus through the front door.
  6. Do not walk, ride or play in a construction area.
  7. Never walk, ride or play on or near railroad tracks.
  8. Always stand behind the textured warning strips on rail platforms.
  9. Be careful when driving or turning across train tracks.
  10. Never try to beat a train through a crossing.
  11. Remember: Safety begins with you. Talk to your family.
