DART Bus Route 26
Expanded DART Bus Route Improves Access to Mexican Consulate
Officials from DART and the Dallas office of the Mexican Consulate commemorated the opening of expanded bus service from downtown Dallas to the consulate and several northwest Dallas businesses with a special bus ride to the consulate office on Thursday, June 15.
DART added the northwest Dallas extension of Route 26 as part of its May 22 bus service change. The expanded Route 26 provides 10 rush hour trips Monday through Friday to the industrial area north of Regal Row and west of Stemmons Freeway. Other businesses in the area served by the route expansion include Allied Marketing Group and Federal Parks Group.
DART President/Executive Director Roger Snoble and Consul General Luis Ortiz-Monasterio boarded a regularly scheduled Route 26 bus from downtown Dallas (Griffin and Pacific, near DART's West End Transfer Center) for the ride to the consulate. The consulate is located at 8855 North Stemmons Freeway.
"The arrival of DART at the consulate is really a gift," Consul General Ortiz-Monasterio said. "More than 600 people daily need access to the services the consulate provides and we are pleased DART is making it easier for them to get here."
"The change to Route 26 is designed to improve access and increase transit options," Snoble added. "With our network of bus and rail services into downtown Dallas, customers from across our service area will have better access to the consulate and businesses in this neighborhood. We are excited about the potential for growth on this route and will be watching it closely."
