Former Major League Baseball security chief
Ruben Puente becomes Lieutenant with DART Transit Police Ruben Puente has joined the DART Transit Police Department as a lieutenant. Before serving as Manager of Security and Facility Management for Major League Baseball, Puente had been with the Arlington Police Department for 23 years, ending his service there as a lieutenant.
Puente's two-year stint with the big leagues took him to major cities throughout the U.S., and even to Cuba for an exhibition game between the Cuban National Team and the Baltimore Orioles. At DART, he will be responsible for the Office of Professional Standards, using his connections with other law enforcement agencies to advance DART goals and objectives.
"We've very fortunate to enlist the services of such a well-known and respected lawman," said Juan Rodriguez, DART Chief of Police. "Lt. Puente brings a tradition of professionalism and high standards that fits well with our mission of protecting DART customers, employees and property."
The Transit Police Department now has four lieutenants and a total of 169 officers and staff serving DART's 13 member cities over a 700-square-mile area.
