DART suspends Cowboy Flyer bus service for 2003 season
As part of its ongoing budget reduction program, DART has suspended operation of the Cowboy Flyer service for the 2003 season.
The bus service, which carried football fans from nine DART park and ride lots to Texas Stadium, did not meet revenue and ridership needs during the 2002 season. While the flyer cost more than $130,000 to operate during the season, fares generated only about $40,000. Ridership averaged about 1,200 fans per game.
DART and Cowboys officials are interested in restoring the service in future seasons and will continue meeting to develop ways to offset operation costs and increase revenue.
