Ride DART to the Great State Fair of Texas

Media Relations Contact: September 17, 2007 Ride DART to the Great State Fair of Texas Every Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 29 to Oct. 21, the DART State Fair Shuttle takes you directly from Pearl Station in downtown Dallas to the country's biggest state fair. Plus, you get a coupon for $2 off fair admission just for riding the shuttle.
Early shuttle service for State Fair 5K and Big Tex Mile On Saturday, Sept. 29, the DART State Fair Shuttle takes off early at 7 a.m. for the annual State Fair 5K Run & Big Tex Mile. The Big Tex Mile starts at 8:30 a.m., the 5K at 8:45 a.m. Big Tex Express Also on Saturdays and Sundays, motorists can ride the free "Big Tex Express" train between auxiliary parking at the fairgrounds to a gate near the Cotton Bowl. The State Fair of Texas offers acres of lighted and secured parking off Haskell west of Dolphin Road -- easily accessible from I-30. Parking is $10. The service operates continuously from 10 a.m. to midnight on Saturdays and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays. Regular DART Service to Fair Park Monday through Friday • Bus Route 409 Illinois Station connects Cityplace and Fair Park on weekdays. • Bus Route 50 Buckner via J.B. Jackson, Jr. Transit Center connects the East Transfer Center and Fair Park on weekdays. East Transfer Center is located approximately one block south of Pearl Station. • Bus Route 60 LBJ/Skillman Station via Fair Park connects Union Station and Fair Park on weekdays. • Selected trips of Bus Route 11 Skyline or Peavy connect Hampton Station and Fair Park on weekdays. DART Rail Green Line construction continues around Fair Park The Fair Park area will be home to two DART Rail stations with the arrival of the Green Line in September 2009. Construction will continue in the area during the 2007 State Fair, so motorists should be aware of possible street closures and detours.
