DART - Celebrating 20 Years of Safe, Reliable and Convenient Service!

6th Annual DART Poster Contest Winners Recognized

DART honored current riders and future artists as the winners of the 6th Annual DART Poster contest were recognized at a recent meeting of the agency's board of directors.

Students from school districts in DART's 13 member cities submitted more than 200 artwork entries - a 70 percent increase over last year. The winners received a medallion, gift certificates, DART weekly passes and a reception with cookies, brownies and punch. Their artwork will be placed on DART's website, DART.org. Each student who submitted an entry received a certificate of participation.

This year's theme was "DART - Celebrating 20 Years of Safe, Reliable and Convenient Service!" It marks the 20th anniversary of one of the nation's largest multimodal transit systems. All posters were judged on illustrating the theme, incorporating the DART logo, and creatively using up to five colors.

Paula King, art teacher at the Martin Luther King Learning Center, has participated in the DART Poster Program Contest since its inception six years ago. Her school was the big winner with 13 students recognized. "This is a good project for the students," she said. "They get to learn about safety when using DART, have fun researching the DART system, and use their creativity in selecting colors and textures. Most of them use DART."
