Albert Bazis Named DART Director of Internal Audit
DART's selection to head its Internal Audit Department is Albert Bazis, a longtime Dallas audit professional who was previously Senior Vice President of Associates First Capital Corporation.
Bazis replaces Sharon Leary, who became DART's chief financial officer this spring. As Director of Internal Audit, Bazis reports directly to the DART Board of Directors, providing an annual audit plan and directing internal operational, compliance, information systems, financial and contract audits.
"It's exciting to be with a high-profile, dynamic agency like DART, and I'm looking forward to being a part of the current expansion," Bazis said.
An audit manager with Arthur Andersen after taking a B.S. degree in business administration from Creighton University, Bazis joined Associates First Capital in 1972, rising to become the company's top audit professional. He is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, a board member of the IIA's Dallas Chapter, chairman of the Advisory Board to the University of North Texas Auditing Program Curriculum, and a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Texas Society of CPAs.
"Al's experience and recognized capabilities will be a valuable addition to DART as we bring light rail to member cities throughout our service area," said DART Board Chairman Jesse Oliver.
