British journalists visit DART

Parker Road Station was one of the stops for The British Broadcasting Corporation's (BBC) Radio World Service as part of their 36 day, coast-to-coast "Talking America" series. It's part of their coverage of the 2008 Presidential election.

The stop Monday morning in Plano was designed to ask Texans about the election in general and their feelings about the need for public transit in the US. The host, or "presenter," as they are called, Ros Atkins, interviewed DART President/Executive Director Gary Thomas for the live broadcast.

The production crew, which also includes presenters from other BBC Radio language services, is making the Los Angeles to New York trip in a custom motor coach. Up to 12 crew members travel on the bus at any given time. From Texas the crew headed east to the first presidential debate in Oxford, Mississippi at the University of Mississippi.
