Strategic Tactics in PR Program Gets National Attention

Dallas Area Rapid Transit Wins PRSA's Bronze Anvil Award

NEW YORK (June 9, 2005) - Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) was the recipient of the coveted 2005 Bronze Anvil Award, sponsored by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). Winners of this award, which recognizes creative tactics in a public relations campaign, were announced at a special ceremony held June 9 in New York City.

The DART Communications Team received the Bronze Anvil Award for its Inmotion stakeholder periodical in the Newsletters category.

"The DART team has successfully addressed a contemporary public relations issue with superb professional skill, creativity and resourcefulness," said Public Relations Society of America's president and CEO, Judith T. Phair, APR, Fellow PRSA. "Congratulations to DART for this achievement. We are proud to honor them with the Bronze Anvil Award."

Published to a target audience of elected officials, business and civic leaders in Dallas and 12 surrounding cities, Inmotion chronicles the transit agency's progress in the development of a mulitimodal transit system, including light rail, commuter rail, bus, paratransit and HOV lane services. The quarterly, which is produced entirely in house, highlights exciting, new transit-oriented developments emerging around DART rail stations, plus a growing family of incentive programs for regional employers. Creative pages of the spring edition are leveraged as the transit agency's annual report and published under separate cover, saving approximately $10,000.

"The PRSA Bronze Anvil rewards great creativity and results in public relations tactics," said Sherry Goldman, 2005 PRSA Bronze Anvil Awards chair and president, Goldman Communications Group, Inc. "Only the best entries from across the country were selected to win this honor. We're proud to recognize the work that public relations practitioners do every day and as part of larger campaigns."

The Bronze Anvil Awards were created by PRSA more than 35 years ago to recognize outstanding public relations tactics, the individual teams or components or campaigns. They are awarded in 50 categories and subcategories.
