October 18, 2001 Public Meetings Scheduled
DART begins Major Investment Study in East Dallas County DART representatives will kick off a transportation study for the East Corridor, located along Interstate 30 and U.S. 80 in east Dallas County, at public meetings scheduled for Wednesday, October 24 and Thursday, October 25.
The meetings are part of a Major Investment Study (MIS) for the area. An MIS calls for community involvement in developing and evaluating alternative transportation improvement strategies. The study area is roughly bounded by Ferguson Road/Santa Fe Railroad to the north, Scyene/Military Parkway to the south, Downtown Dallas to the west and the Rockwall County line/SH 352 to the east. The study area includes parts of Dallas, Garland, Mesquite, Rowlett and Sunnyvale.
Citizens attending the meeting will learn about the MIS process and schedule, preliminary study goals and objectives and how they can get involved. Completion of the study, expected in late 2003, will result in the selection of a Locally Preferred Investment Strategy with specific recommendations for improving mobility in the corridor.
