DALLAS, October 17, 2025 — Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) invites the public to join a full day of community celebrations on Saturday, October 25, 2025, marking the opening of the new Silver Line Regional Rail with festivities at all 10 stations from Plano to DFW Airport. The entire DART system will be fare free for all riders on Saturday, with the Silver Line continuing to be fare free for two weeks through November 8.
The celebrations begin with two invitation-only events: a ribbon cutting at UT Dallas on October 23 and an official opening ceremony for our partners, government officials and dignitaries on October 24, leading into Saturday’s region-wide community celebrations, which are open to the public.
A Day to Celebrate Across 10 Stations
Each Silver Line station will host its own community celebration from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., showcasing the spirit of the cities along the line: Plano, Richardson, Addison, Carrollton, Dallas, Coppell, and Grapevine.

While general festivities will include family-friendly games and activities, food trucks and small business vendors, guided train tours aboard DART’s new Stadler trains, and community booths and giveaways from DART and partner cities, some station celebrations will feature special activities:
12thStreet
A special dedication ceremony at the 12th Street Red Line station will unveil a series of 16 windscreen installations with historic photos of Douglass Community members
Radio station MAJIC 94.5 will host a remote broadcast from the site from 2 . – 6 p.m.
CityLine/Bush
An official ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony will precede the Station Celebration at 9:30 a.m.
UTD Station
Radio station Star 102.1 106 will broadcast live from the site from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Addison Station
An official ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony will precede the Station Celebration at 9 a.m.
Radio station 106.1 KISS FM will broadcast live from the site from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Downtown Carrollton
An official ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony will precede the Station Celebration at 8:45 a.m.
Radio station Mix 102.9 will broadcast live from the site from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Cypress Waters
An official ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony will precede the Station Celebration at 8:25 a.m.
12th Street Concert at Shiloh Station – Plano
The day of festivities will end on a high note with the Jakarta Band bringing the party to 12th Street Station with a free outdoor concert from 6 – 9 p.m. There will also be local food and activities for all ages. The concert celebrates the Silver Line’s eastern stations and the growing connection between North Texas communities.
