New Fair Park area transit center opens Feb. 21

DART delivering new connections, faster service

Federal, state and local officials joined community leaders and DART officials for the dedication of the J.B. Jackson, Jr. Transit Center
Federal, state and local officials joined community leaders and DART officials for the dedication of the J.B. Jackson, Jr. Transit Center.
DART is smoothing out bus connections with the opening of the new J.B. Jackson, Jr. Transit Center near Fair Park and a number of bus service modifications scheduled to take effect Monday, February 21.

Details on DART's modified bus schedule and new destination information can be found in the February 21 Bus Service Change brochure, now available on buses, at DART transit centers and the downtown Dallas DART Store, or online at www.DART.org. Information is also available by calling DART at 214-979-1111.

J.B. Jackson, Jr. Transit Center connects South Dallas/Fair Park
The new facility, located at the intersection of J.B. Jackson, Jr. Blvd. and Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., features a climate-controlled waiting area and parking for 200 vehicles. Four routes will serve the new transit center, providing convenient connections to DART Rail and downtown Dallas. Those routes include: 12, 26, 50 and 409. The portion of Bus Route 445 currently serving the area will become part of Bus Route 409.

In addition, three new early morning non-stop trips connect customers at the J. B. Jackson, Jr. Transit Center with the South Garland (Bus Route 264), North Irving (Bus Route 202) and Addison (Bus Route 205) transit centers, saving customers an average of 15-20 minutes. All three trips leave early enough to make 6 a.m. connections at the three transit centers. The price is premium fare, $2.25 each way, or a $4.50 Day Pass.

New choices for customers
DART is modifying midday bus schedules to improve connections between bus routes at the CBD East Transfer Center at Pearl and Pacific in downtown Dallas. Seven bus routes serving the downtown area will stop at the East Transfer Center for approximately three minutes to permit transfers between buses. Those routes include: 19 (northbound only); 39; 42 (westbound only); 44 (northbound only); and 49; 63 and 164 (inbound only).

More than 50 routes and schedules are being adjusted to reach employment, shopping and entertainment destinations, and trips are being added to existing schedules to meet increased ridership demands. Customers should review the Service Change Brochure or new schedules dated February 21, 2005 to see if their route is affected.
