Media Relations Contact: July 5, 2019 DART PD presented with fallen officer 'honor chair' A San Antonio nonprofit organization that honors fallen first responders by building special wooden chairs in their honor has presented a chair to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Police Department.  Brent Thompson's parents, Paulette and Sam Thompson  Brent Thompson's chair at DART Police Headquarters Thompson was the first DART police officer killed in the line of duty almost three years ago on July 7, 2016 after a protest march in downtown Dallas turned violent. His heroism led to President Donald Trump posthumously presenting him on May 22 with a Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor. The honor chair will be placed in Thompsons memory where roll call is held each day at police headquarters. -- 30 -- |
