DALLAS, Texas — Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is prepared to inform customers ahead of a potential strike by employees of microtransit service provider, Transdev Services, Inc. DART is committed to completing all trips, even if some trips arrive late or have extended wait times.
While Transdev and ATU Local 1388 continue negotiations and a strike has not been called, DART is prepared to inform riders of potential impacts. Some impacted paratransit riders will be contacted directly via their preferred contact method.
“DART remains hopeful Transdev and ATU Local 1388 can come to an agreement. However, we have a responsibility to prepare our riders for potential disruptions to the services they rely on,” said Trenise Winters, DART Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer. “By activating contingency plans now, we can maintain continuity of service in the event a strike does occur.”
What is happening:
DART contracts microtransit services with Transdev through paratransit and GoLink offerings. DART Paratransit is an origin-to-destination, door-to-door public transportation service for qualifying people within DART’s service area with disabilities who are unable to use DART’s fixed-route buses or trains. DART GoLink is an on-demand service within designated zones across the DART service area.
Transdev’s employee union – ATU Local 1388 – voted on June 4 to authorize a strike. While a strike authorization does not mean a strike will occur, DART is issuing guidance to riders ahead of a potential strike.
The strike authorization does not apply to DART employees and is specific only to Transdev employees.
What GoLink and paratransit riders need to know:
A strike is not confirmed. Transdev and its employees are still engaged in negotiations.
If a strike does occur, DART is prepared to proactively communicate with affected paratransit riders to make a personalized trip plan.
DART anticipates service delays should a strike occur.
If a strike occurs:
Customers may check the status of their trip via the “DART Paratransit” application. The app is available in the Apple App store or Google Play store.
Customers may also use the automated phone assistant to check trip status at 214-515-7272.
Customers may book trips either via phone at 214-515-7272 (7 days per week, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a live agent), via web booking at dart.org/ridepara, or via the DART Paratransit app.
In the event of a long delay for individual trips, Transdev or DART staff may call riders proactively to try to find solutions or provide alternative options.
Recurring reservations will be prioritized, and new reservations will be accepted.
There will be unavoidable delays on some trips. Plan ahead and allow extra time for your driver to arrive.
