DART Receives National Workplace Development Award

DART is well know locally for its great employer programs and initiatives, but recently the transportation agency's employer recognition escalated to the national level.

The National Association of Workforce Boards - made up of representatives from over 700 workforce development boards - presented DART with the Theodore E. Small Award for its DFW Work Coalition. The award is named for the late president of the New York City Private Industry Council - one of the founding members of the National Association of Workforce Boards and its first chairman - and honors public/private partnerships that have advanced workforce development in their communities. DART was chosen the winner from more than 50 national entries.

The DFW Work Coalition was established in 1997 as a partnership between DART, American Airlines, the DFW Airport, the DFW Airport Hilton, Lockheed Martin, LSG SkyChefs, UPS, US Sprint and the Texas Workforce Commission to develop workers for jobs, establish transportation assistance to jobs and increase employer outreach to low-income communities.
