June 20, 1999

Congratulations Stars!

DART to the Stanley Cup Parade, Monday, June 21

Fans of the Stanley Cup champion Dallas Stars can skate to Monday's victory parade from several convenient DART locations.

DART light rail is the best way to get to the parade along Young Street. Convention Center Station and Union Station are the closest stops. Both are within easy walking distance of the parade.

DART and NorthPark shopping center are working together to provide extra parking for Stars fans. Ample parking is available at the northeast end of NorthPark shopping center (off Park Lane). From there, fans will board a shuttle bus to Park Lane Rail Station. The trip on the Red Line train takes about 25 minutes.

Another option for Stars fans coming from North Dallas and surrounding areas is DART's North Central Transit Center (Coit Rd., south of LBJ Freeway). Lots of free parking is available and Bus Route 567 makes a quick connection to Park Lane Station where Red Line trains travel along and under North Central Expressway at speeds up to 65 miles an hour. One-way fare is $1 for adults and $.50 for children (ages 5 - 14) and disabled customers, senior citizens and students with proper ID.

Thanks to Prescott Realty Group, fans driving to DART's Mockingbird Rail Station (Mockingbird Lane, east of Central Expressway) will find additional parking immediately northwest of the station off of Twin Sixties Drive. The train ride into downtown take about 20 minutes.

Fans traveling from the south or west should board a Blue Line train at Ledbetter Station (Lancaster Road/Loop 12 Ledbetter Drive) or a Red Line train at Westmoreland Station (Westmoreland and Illinois) for a quick 25-minute ride to downtown Dallas. Parking is free at both stations and a local service DART Day Pass is $2 for adults and $1 for children (ages 5 - 14) and disabled customers, senior citizens and students with proper ID.

The Trinity Railway Express commuter rail line connects downtown Irving with Dallas' Union Station. A local service DART Day Pass is $2 and $1 for children (ages 5 - 14) and disabled customers, senior citizens and students with proper ID.

DART parade day bus service to downtown Dallas also is available from the following locations:

North Irving Transit Center, North O'Connor Blvd. & Northwest Highway

Route 202
One-way fare: $2 adults, $1 children, disabled, seniors, students

North Carrollton Transit Center, Trinity Mills Road & Dickerson Parkway

Richardson Transit Center, Arapaho Road and Greenville Ave.

Garland Central Transit Center, Walnut St. at Fifth St.

Route 282
One-way fare: $2 adults, $1 children, disabled, seniors, students

Except for Route 282 from Garland, each of these bus routes will take customers to DART's CBD West Transfer Center in downtown Dallas -- a few blocks north of the parade route on Young St. Customers can walk to the parade or transfer to DART Rail at nearby West End Station, riding to Union Station or Convention Center Station. Customers will return to the CBD West Transfer Center to make their trip home. Bus stop locations are clearly marked at the Center and DART staff will be on hand to help customers with questions.

Customers on the 282 from Garland will get off the bus on Elm St. at Lamar or Austin and pick up the bus at the same location when they are ready to return home. DART will have staff on hand to help customers make their connections as smoothly as possible.

Some DART bus routes traveling through downtown Dallas will be rerouted the day of the parade. The affected routes are: 2 Hatcher, 11 Hampton Station, 19 Ann Arbor, 21 Kiest, 26 Regal Row, 26 MLK, 155 Paul Quinn, 46 Illinois Station, 46 Meadow, 156 Redbird TC, 161 St. Aug./Spruce, 161 Glen Oaks, 76 Jefferson-Keeneland, 102 Loop 12, 206 Glenn Heights, 281 South Garland, 282 Garland Central and 283 Lake Ray Hubbard.

Customers can check with their operator the day of the parade for specific information about the route changes, call DART Customer Service at 214-979-1111 or visit DART's website, www.DART.org, for specific trip information and travel planning help.
