DART and Richland College feature Texas poets Five Poems Kick Off Poetry in Motion 2003 Season
The season will feature Texas poets Jan Eptson Seale and Naomi Shihab Nye and distinguished writers Antonio Machado, Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson. Each year the Poetry in Motion committee, comprised of local publishers, editors, educators and booksellers, meets to select poems to be placed in advertising spaces on DART buses and light rail vehicles. Five new poems are mounted every three months during the year. When the poems are changed out, the posters are recycled for use in school classrooms throughout DART's 13 member cities. DART brought Poetry in Motion to North Texas in 1998. The national program, coordinated by the Poetry Society of America (PSA), is enjoyed by millions of riders in such cities as New York, Baltimore, Boston and Chicago. -- 30 -- Click here to view the DART Poetry in Motion Gallery. |
