DART HOV Update

HOV Lane on I-35E/US 67 Grows Starting Monday, August 28

DART adds 2.6 more miles to the new High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane on I-35E/US 67 at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 28. The new section runs between Louisiana Avenue (north of Illinois Avenue) and Loop 12. This southbound lane section will only be open during afternoon rush hours (4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday).

The first 2.25 miles of the new lane opened on US 67 on June 5 between Camp Wisdom Road and Loop 12. More than 11,000 commuters use this section each weekday. This section is open 24 hours a day and is patrolled by DART Transit Police. The lanes are open to passenger vehicles with two or more riders, buses, vans and motorcycles.

When complete in Summer 2001, the full 11-mile HOV system along these highways will extend from Downtown Dallas to Camp Wisdom Road on US 67.
