Make DART your spring break destination

Need something to do with your Spring Breaker? Let DART take you to art, science, history and family fun.

Dallas Museum of Art imageBring out the artist in your child! Take DART Rail to St. Paul Station and you'll be within walking distance of the largest urban cultural district in the nation, with 16 blocks of performing and visual arts destinations to explore. The district is home to the Dallas Museum of Art, which offers fun-filled Late Night and Family Day events where you and your little ones can enjoy quality time in an artistic atmosphere. There are also weekend programs such as Drop-In Art, Family Films, Art Stops, Storytelling, and Sketching in the Galleries for Kids. Don't forget to meet Arturo, the family programs mascot of the Dallas Museum of Art.

A short ride away on DART Rail puts you face to face with colorful flowers at the Dallas Blooms festival at the Dallas Arboretum and botanic garden, one of the top floral display gardens in North America. The festival features more than 400,000 spring-blooming bulbs, 20,000 spring-flowering azaleas, 70,000 pansies and violas and thousands of other spring blooming annuals and perennials. From March 10-April 17, Mommy and Me Mondays offers children's craft, a petting zoo, face painting, kindermusick and story telling. And Tuesdays are Children's Medical's Tiny Tots Tuesdays with a special performance by the Tiny Tot Ballet by the Janie Christie School of Dance. Take DART Rail to Mockingbird, then Bus Route 519.

The Science Place imageDART Bus Route 60 from Union Station in downtown Dallas takes you to The Science Place at Fair Park for a journey into space. The New Horizons planetarium show explores the moons and the planets of our solar system with real images transformed into 3D-animation. You'll be amazed by breathtaking volcanic eruptions and shots from inside Saturn's rings.

Excitement via the Trinity Railway Express (TRE)
Get behind the wheel of a NASCAR racecar and experience heart-pumping excitement at 180 miles per hour at The NASCAR: IMAX Experience at the OMNI Theater at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. Get an inside look at the NASCAR world and how it all began while learning about the science of today's racing technology. The family will encounter non-stop thrills throughout the show on a huge screen with surround sound. Take the TRE to the ITC Station in downtown Fort Worth, then the T Bus Route 7 to the museum.

A tour of public art for your delight
More than a trip to the store or work, riding DART is a real art experience. Throughout its 38 facilities, the DART Station Art and Design Program offers a collection of public art displayed on its canopies, columns, pavers, windscreens, fencing and landscaping.

From enormous clocks to fascinating sculptures, each DART Rail station celebrates its own community and reflects its diversity of culture and architectural history. Mockingbird Station, for example, reflects the eclectic nature of the surrounding area with colorful tile work throughout the station. The human-sized bird tracks in the elevator floor tiles pay playful homage to the station's namesake. Just one stop over and 120 feet below ground level is Cityplace Station - DART's only subway station. The art and design team created an evolution theme using each station level to represent a layer of geological and human history.

Getting there is easy and affordable! A $1.00 DART Day Pass for children ages 5-14 gives you unlimited rail and bus rides all day. An adult Day Pass is $2.50. Start planning your trip now with DART's trip planner online at www.DART.org or by calling DART's Customer Service Center at 214-979-1111.
