Effective October 24

New DART Rail, bus, streetcar and TRE schedules on the way

DART Rail expands to 93 miles with the opening of the Blue Line to the Camp Wisdom and UNT Dallas stations on Oct. 24. The opening brings the country's longest light rail system and its 64 stations to nearly 3,000 students attending the only regionally accredited, public university in the City of Dallas. Several bus routes will be added or modified to serve the new stations better.

But that's not the only service improvement happening later this month.

Route 415 will operate between Southwest Center Mall and the UNT Dallas campus. The seven day a week route will feature a weekday-only diversion to the Texas Department of Public Safety Super Center near the intersection of Interstates 20 and 35E.

New Route 516 will offer seven-day service to the Singing Hills community from Camp Wisdom Station while existing Route 553 will become two separate routes. The northern portion, between Pall Mall and Morgan, will keep the number 553 and become a one-way clockwise loop operating Monday through Friday. The remaining portion between Camp Wisdom Station and Cedar Valley College will operate weekdays as new Route 555.

Changes in Feeder Bus Routes Serving Ledbetter Station
Route 444 will maintain seven day-a-week service between the Cockrell Hill Passenger Transfer Location and Ledbetter Station, but during weekday peak hours it will extend east to the Dutch Harbor (Carbondale) community, currently a part of Route 415. Another route divided into two sections is the 515 with the portion operating between Dallas Zoo and Ledbetter stations keeping the existing route number. The remaining portion, now Route 516, will provide seven day-a-week service to Singing Hills.

Dallas Streetcar Moves Start of Daily Service to 5:30 a.m.
In response to requests for earlier service, the Dallas Streetcar will expand its hours of operation effective Oct. 24. The first trip will leave Union Station at 5:30 a.m. Service frequency will remain every 20 minutes until midnight, seven days a week.

Changes to Trinity Railway Express (TRE)
To address customer concerns regarding irregular train headways during peak hours, the TRE will debut sweeping schedule changes. Details are available at www.TrinityRailwayExpress.org.

Highlights include:

• 30-minute frequency between trains during morning and evening rush hours;
• trains will operate hourly during other weekday hours;
• Friday and Saturday evening service will be extended an average of 1-2 hours to encourage travel for weekend activities;
• Saturday morning departures will begin between 5 and 6 a.m., or an average of three hours prior to present service to accommodate early shift workers in the area.
