DART customers urged to give their views
Proposed changes to bus service operations presented in community meetings
DART is holding a series of community and public meetings to gather input on more proposed bus service changes.
The meetings will focus on proposed bus route changes or eliminations. If approved by the DART Board, the modifications will be implemented as part of the December 9 service change.
The following proposed bus route modifications are in addition to previously proposed bus route changes to coordinate with DART's light rail expansion. The Blue Line extends to the new Forest/Jupiter and Downtown Garland stations on November 18 and the Red Line extends to the new Bush Turnpike, Downtown Plano and Parker Road stations on December 9. The light rail system will more than double to 44 miles and 34 stations before the end of 2002.
Proposed route changes or modifications are:
| Route 183 |
Combine schedule with Route 205 to reduce duplication. |
| Route 202 |
Eliminate service extensions at DFW Airport; DFW shuttles are available as alternatives; combine with Route 310 on weekends. |
| Route 205 |
Combine schedule with Route 183; modify downtown routing. |
| Route 321 |
Eliminate midday service; maintain Addison T.C. to Brookhaven connection. |
| Route 475 |
Eliminate "extra" trips that were added for transfers prior to the Lake June Transit Center opening. |
| Route 515 |
Reduce span of ten-minute frequency during peak periods. |
| Route 539 |
Widen frequency to 35 minutes peak and 60 minutes base to reduce vehicle requirement. |
| Route 574 |
Eliminate midday service. |
| Route 701 |
Eliminate route and extend Route 444 to Ledbetter Station during midday periods. |
| Route 704 |
Eliminate route; connections to North Irving T.C. and Neiman Marcus are available on other routes. |
