September 13, 2001 DART Light Rail to Carrollton moving forward
Public meetings scheduled for Northwest light rail corridor DART representatives will present the latest Northwest Corridor light rail plans and design process at two meetings scheduled for Thursday, September 13 and Thursday, September 20.
There are two branches to the Northwest Corridor light rail project. The section from downtown Dallas to Farmers Branch and Carrollton is scheduled to open in 2008 and the section from Northwest Highway to Las Colinas and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is scheduled to open in 2010.
At these meetings, the public can provide input on the project status, including environmental and conceptual engineering phases of the portion of the light rail corridor from downtown Dallas to Farmers Branch and Carrollton. Meeting topics include Medical Center alignment and stations, Love Field access, conceptual station layouts and options, traffic issues and grade separations, coordination with freight traffic, other environmental issues and typical mitigation treatments. DART staff will work closely with the community to develop measures to minimize or eliminate possible environmental impacts.
