Ride DART and TRE to Dallas area summer events

North Texans can start their staycations on Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) and the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) when they head out to explore museums, animals, festivals and more! Saturday trips are an even better value, as one $10 Regional Day Pass delivers rides for two adults and up to four kids under 14. Saturdays only through August 17.

    The Body Beautiful in Ancient Greece: Masterworks from the British Museum
    The Dallas Museum of Art presents an internationally touring exhibition of more than 120 objects exploring the human form through exquisite artworks exclusively from the British Museum's famed collection of Greek and Roman sculpture. Iconic marble and bronze sculptures, vessels, funerary objects, and jewelry are among the treasures that explore the human form, some dating back to the second millennium B.C.

    Hotel Texas: An Art Exhibition for the President and Mrs. John F. Kennedy
    The Dallas Museum of Art commemorates the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, by bringing together the works of art installed in the president's suite at the Hotel Texas during his fateful trip in 1963.

    Katharina Grosse: Wunderblock
    The Nasher Sculpture Center presents two new works created for the museum by Berlin-based artist Katharina Grosse. For more than two decades, Grosse has been making large installations consisting of brightly colored acrylic paints sprayed onto walls, ceilings, piles of dirt, and sculpted Styrofoam and fiberglass shapes.

    Summer Adventures in Fair Park�
    The State Fair of Texas� presents 18 acres of rides, games, stage shows, water play pools, fountains and more. Visitors will be among the first to climb aboard the Top o' Texas tower, the new 500-feet ride that provides a panoramic view of downtown Dallas and more.

    Safari Nights at the Dallas Zoo
    Stay at the Zoo past sundown on Saturdays this summer from 5-9 p.m. There will be music, animal encounters and other great surprises. Come early or come late for one great price.

Stroll through the culinary area inside the Automobile Building featuring local chef demonstrations, the Taste of the Town indoor tasting experience, the Taste Tavern with beer, wine and spirit samplings, The Sweet Factory, a huge culinary marketplace, live music and plenty for the kids to do.

    Ed Ruscha: Made in California
    The Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth showcases lithographs created by Los Angeles-based artist Ed Ruscha, known for his Pop Art approach using images featuring single words suspended in space.

    The T's Safari Shuttle to the Fort Worth Zoo
    Fort Worth Zoo visitors arriving by Trinity Railway Express may ride the Safari Shuttle from the downtown Fort Worth Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC) Station free of charge with their TRE Day Pass or with a weekly, monthly or annual Regional pass. The Safari Shuttle leaves on the hour and half-hour from Bus Bay A adjacent to the TRE platform.

    Wari: Lords of the Ancient Andes
    Fort Worth's Kimbell Art Museum explores the Wari accomplishment through some 140 artworks in all major media in which they worked - polychrome ceramics, ornaments made of precious metals or colorful mosaics, sculptured wood and stone objects, and textiles of striking complexity. The Wari civilization formed in the wake of a late-sixth-century drought that ravaged the central Andean region of what is today Peru and parts of adjacent countries.

    Twilight Tunes in downtown Denton
    Thursday nights, the Denton Main Street Association presents its award-winning concert series 6:30-8 p.m. Bring your friends and family, get a meal-to-go from one of the many downtown eateries, bring a blanket or chairs, and enjoy an evening of great live music as the sun sets over downtown Denton. The 2013 series offers an eclectic assortment of music from some of the best local bands in the Denton area. Admission is free. The concert is held on the east lawn of the Denton County Courthouse-on-the-Square, located at 110 W. Hickory St.
