New member to represent Dallas
William Velasco, II to represent Dallas on DART Board of Directors
William M. Velasco, II was recently appointed to represent the City of Dallas on the Board of Directors of Dallas Area Rapid Transit.
Velasco is the owner of Velasco Tax and Financial Services of Dallas and has been in business for more than 15 years. He is a lifelong resident of Dallas and brings more than 20 years of public service to the DART Board.
He is one of the founding members of the Winnetka Heights Historical District in Oak Cliff and was the first president of La Calle Diez Community Corporation, a joint-venture of the Salesmanship Club of Dallas and the Real Estate Council which promotes affordable housing in Dallas. He was also a board member of Texas Can!, the parent of Dallas Can! with six locations throughout Texas.
Velasco says his goals as a DART board member are to bring value to DART customers and ownership to its employees.
His committee assignments include the Diversity Economic Opportunity Committee, the Operations Committee, the Project Management Committee and the Planning Committee.
Velasco is a Registered Investment Advisor, a tax consultant, and is licensed with the Texas Department of Insurance. He is a member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce. He earned a BA degree in Architectural and Environmental Design from Texas A&M University.
