Media Relations Contact: December 17, 2019 DART moves forward with development agreement for SMU/Mockingbird Station Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) board members reviewed plans for transit-oriented development on their property at SMU/Mockingbird Station earlier this week. High resolution PNG (opens in a new window) The Master Development agreement includes a 99-year lease to be established at fair market value. DART selected the developer in January 2018 after reviewing proposals from multiple developers. Trammel Crow's plan is to construct an underground parking garage and residential and commercial towers on surface parking lots at the station. High resolution PNG (opens in a new window) SMU/Mockingbird is one of DART's busiest locations and serves Dallas' first transit-oriented development of retail, restaurant and an apartment complex that opened in 2001. The station itself opened in 1997 and quickly become an important transportation resource for SMU students, faculty, staff and visitors. A shuttle service, the SMU Express, connects the DART station to the university campus and the President George W. Bush Presidential Center a short distance away. -- 30 -- |
