1. Gather proof of your current participation in one of the above qualifying assistance programs.
A current participant card or agency letter are valid forms of proof. They must have your name on them. Scan or take a clear photo of the document.
|2. Take your photo.
Have someone else take a headshot photo of you from the shoulders up, forward facing, square to the camera, with a plain neutral background. Do not wear a hat, sunglasses, or shaded glasses. Do not submit a selfie photo, a photo of a photo, or a photo or scan of your driver's license.

|5. Your Discount GoPass® Tap Card will arrive by U.S. Mail within 15 business days.
The card is free, but you must load it with at least $6 in value to get started - that's equal to two Reduced Day Passes.
You can ride the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) as far west as DFW Airport/CentrePort Station. You will need to purchase a Regional fare beyond that, as well as on the Trinity Metro or Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) systems.
Like a prepaid card, you load value onto your Discount GoPass Tap card account before you start riding DART. Then, you simply touch the card to the electronic reader every time you board or transfer to a vehicle. Your fare deducts automatically.
They are located on buses and at rail stations. You do not need to tap as you exit or de-board.
There is no purchase or activation fee. However, there is an initial $6 minimum load.
You will need to provide your first name, last name, and current proof of participation in any of the qualifying assistance programs.
You also will be asked to provide an email address so you can manage your Discount GoPass Tap card account online. An email address is not required to obtain your card.
No. The card itself acts as proof of eligibility for a reduced fare.
Each familiy member must register individually, and each will receive his or her own Discount GoPass Tap card. When you apply for your tap card, upload your current participant card or agency letter from a qualifying assistance program and any documentation that lists all family members who also receive benefits.
Your card may take up to 15 business days to arrive in the mail. If it has been longer than that, call DART Customer Service at 214-979-1111, Option 1.
The Discount GoPass Tap Card program will expire on Dec. 31, 2021. If DART renews the program, you must requalify. You will not need a new card, but you will need to get a new expiration sticker for your card.
If the program ends, your card will still work, but it will deduct a full local adult fare. You will continue to have access to any funds remaining on your GoPass Tap account. However, the card will no longer serve as a reduced-fare photo ID.
The Discount GoPass Tap card is white and has your name, photo, and a yellow sticker with the discount expiration date of Dec. 31, 2021. DART fare enforcement officers, police officers and bus operators know that anyone with this card qualifies for reduced DART fares.
No. The only requirement for the Discount GoPass Tap card program is that you are a participant in one of the qualifying assistance programs.
Your card is automatically registered. If you provide an email address when you register online, you will receive a message to remind you to fully register your card. As soon as you start using it, you benefit from fare capping and account balance recovery.
You can also manage your Discount GoPass Tap card account - and add value to it - online at GoPass.org.
You can add value to your tap card with cash or credit at hundreds of retail locations, including 7-Eleven, ACE Cash Express, Tom Thumb, Fiesta Mart and many independent convenience stores. Find a location near you at GoPass.org/get-started/get-a-card/

When you receive your Discount GoPass Tap card, you must put at least $6 of value on your account. When you reload the tap card, you can add as little as $1 up to a total value of $200.

No. Each person must have their own, unique Discount GoPass Tap card.
If you tap your card at the reader and see a yellow circle on the screen with the words "Low Card Balance," it means you have enough money for that trip - but you need to add funds before the next one.
If you see a red circle with an "X" and the words "Load Funds," then you do not have enough money in your account for the trip. You can still buy a Reduced Local Pass at the bus farebox or ticket vending machine (TVM). Your Discount GoPass Tap card will serve as your reduced-fare photo ID.
On trains, fare enforcement officers have handheld devices to verify that you tapped your card at the card reader prior to boarding.
When you tap your card, you are never charged more than the cost of a Day Pass (Local or Reduced) in a single day, or a Monthly Pass (Local or Reduced) in a calendar month. The system always gives you the "best fare."
For example, let's look at the following scenario:
|8:00 a.m.||You tap your card, $1.50 will be deducted for a Reduced AM pass.|
|11:30 a.m.||You board again and are charged nothing, because it is still within the AM Pass period.|
|3:00 p.m.||You board (tap) again, the system charges you $1.50 for a PM Pass.
Total fare for the day is only $3, exactly the cost of Reduced Day Pass.
If you tap your card mornings and afternoons for 16 days in a given month, you will have spent the same as a Reduced Monthly Pass - and for the rest of the month, you will pay nothing! You will still need to tap your card when you board, however.

DART will freeze your account so that no one can use your card. You will still retain any funds that remain on it. However, you will be asked to add a $6 minimum value to your new card. This will be added to the overall balance.
