Stroller Use Guidelines

The center car of every DART Rail vehicle is a low-floor section that offers level boarding with the rail platform – perfect for strollers. DART buses also have low-floor sections and is equipped with ramps that deploy for level boarding from the curb. Strollers should be collapsible or foldable to provide safe transport for you and your family.

Strolling with a stroller: How to Do it

Every day passengers board DART buses and trains with strollers. Many of these passengers desire to use the priority seating and securement area to access transit. Please follow these guidelines when sharing limited space on public transit.

Acceptable stroller size

The maximum size for an uncollapsed stroller is 48" long by 24" wide. A stroller should be equipped with an operable brake and should be capable of being stowed out of the aisle. Strollers that are not being occupied by children should be collapsed and stowed.

Priority seating and securement area

If the stroller fits within DART's size requirements, passengers may occupy the priority seating and securement area. However, if elderly or disabled passenger boards, passengers with strollers must be prepared to move from the priority seating area of the bus or train and stow away the stroller. If a bus or train is full, all strollers should be collapsed and stowed.


Using the lift to board a bus

The bus operator will kneel the bus, deploy the lift or extend the ramp upon request. You may still be required to collapse your stroller once on board.
